Wine Themed Wedding

The following article suggests some of the most creative ways for organizing a wine themed wedding. Read on to know how to plan the decorations, food, invitations, favors, etc. for this wedding...
Gone are the days when people used to settle for having a wedding in a church, where a small gathering of close friends and family would come and bless them. These days, just like in anything else, people want to bring out their individuality and originality in the way they have their weddings. That's why, we have all sorts of themes around which weddings are being planned these days. Out of all these themes, one of the most romantic and beautiful themes is wine. People who are aficionados of wine or those who like the romance, charm and sophistication that wines and vineyards exhibit, would simply love wine themed weddings!

Venue
The perfect venue for a wine themed wedding is a vineyard. So, if you have one near your place, see if you can book it for a day. Otherwise, country clubs, gardens and banquet halls designed around an Italian theme, would bring out the wine theme, in a flattering way as well. If you have the budget, you can hire a wedding planner who would be able to recreate a vineyard or a wine shop at the venue itself!

Color Combinations
To bring out the theme in the most apt manner, use the grape colors such as green, purple and burgundy in your decorations, invitations, dresses of the bridesmaid and groomsmen and in each and everything related to the wedding.

Invitations
The invitations should be designed in such a way that they offer a prelude to the guests of what to expect on the D day. A unique idea for invitations is to have them cut out in the shape and color of wine bottles! If you like the regular square or rectangle shaped invitations, have a picture of a wine bottle or a bunch of grapes printed on it.

Decorations
There are numerous creative ways in which you can plan the decorations. Wine bottles, oak barrels, grapevines (both real and fake), wine glasses, silken cloth in green and purple color, ribbons and tulle in the same colors, candles - you can use them in imaginative and innovative combinations and create some unique decoration pieces out of them. Here are some unique ideas on decorations that you can consider:
  • Arrange for a number of oak barrels and place them all around the venue. Keep a square cut out of a purple silken cloth on the lid, which hangs a wee bit on the sides of the barrel. Next, take glass wine buckets, fill them with fake ice and in the end, keep a bottle of wine inside them. This makes for an exquisite wedding decoration!
  • For the centerpieces, you can creatively arrange green and purple colored wine glasses on a large metal plate. Fill the glasses with grapes and let a grapevine or two hang from these. Tie the glass stems with small bows made out of ribbons and voila, you have the most artistic centerpiece ready! If you are planning the wedding in the night, a good idea is to make centerpieces with wine glass candles.
  • Roses are the flowers which are associated with wine themed weddings. So create an arch at the altar and decorate it with champagne colored and white roses. If the wedding is in a hall, you can hang flower arrangements made from roses from the walls.
  • Keep the table cloth and chair covers white. To add a hint of the wine theme to them, have the chair sashes in green and purple colors.
  • Tulle can be hung from the walls or used at various places in a creative way to enhance the décor.
  • An interesting thing that you can do is to build a pyramid of colored wine glasses at the party venue. If you can pull this one off, it is one wedding décor that your guests will remember forever!
Food and Beverages
Include appetizers made with different kinds of cheese, a Caesar salad, various styles of pastas and desserts made of dark chocolates. As for the beverages, keep a variety of wines so that everybody gets to taste them. For children and those who do not take alcohol, you can keep grape juices.

Favors
For wedding favors, give something to the guests which will keep the memory of the fun time they had at your wedding, alive. Gifts such as wine bottle openers, coasters, a pair of wine glasses, decorative wine bottle stoppers, make for good gifts. These gifts are practical and can be used by your guests in their homes for a long time.

Wine themed weddings are all about elegance, love and romance. They are ideal for those couples who believe in living a life of beauty and luxury. If this is what defines you, then go ahead and plan a magnificent fairytale wedding, around this theme!
