Windshield Fluid Not Coming Out

Driving your car, you try to look through the windshield, but can't get a clear view. To clear that dirty windshield, you pull a knob to squirt fluid on the windshield. But it's still blur or unclear, you pull it once again. Windshield fluid not coming out! Well, that definitely frustrates you. You might wonder what's wrong. Let me tell you that this car problem can be caused due to various reasons. If you are facing a problem, here we'll try to find the solution.

Things To Check

Check the Motor Sound
Well, if there is a humming sound that can be heard after you turn on the windshield washer, the motor of this washer is working. If this sound is missing, you would need to open bonnet of your auto and check the fuses. If it is blown, then just replace the fuse and check again. In case the fuse is not blown and the motor is not making any sound, you need to call a mechanic who might probably replace the windshield washer motor.

Check the Reservoir
The first step you need to take while finding a solution to the problem is to check the reservoir. If the level of fluid is low or if the reservoir is empty, you just need to add the windshield fluid. Wondering how to add windshield washer fluid? Just open the cap and pour it until the reservoir fills till the top. You can either use a bottle with small opening or use a funnel so as to avoid spilling of the fluid. Close the cap to finish the job.

Check the Fluid
Though the windshield wiper fluid that you use is resistant to freezing, extreme cold climate can cause complete freezing. Firstly you need to start the engine and park your car in a closed garage for a day. This will ensure that it is at least above freezing temperature. Once the washer fluid becomes liquid, take your car out of the garage and drain the fluid completely. Now open the cap of the reservoir and pour a specially formulated anti-freeze windshield washer fluid into it. Close the cap and check out.

Check the Nozzle
During the car waxing exercise, excess of car wax can get clogged in the nozzle, further causing the windshield fluid to be blocked. If rear windshield fluid is the concern, same might be the cause which needs to be worked upon. Basically you can insert a needle into the opening of the nozzle and help clear the clog. Do this for a few times and check whether the fluid is coming out. If it isn't, try this.

Check the Line
Take a can of compressed air and holding it against the nozzle and blow air to remove any obstruction. Now remove the tube from lower part of the nozzle and blow air to remove any debris. Check all joints of the tube and remove whichever you can and blow compressed air through each section to until you find a clog. Now, reconnect all of them and check.
