Window Tinting Prices

You've bought a new car, or perhaps, want to liven up the car you already own. You want it to be your perfect style statement. You want to create a sense of mystery when you drive into your school/office parking lot. You think about having your windows tinted. But before you do, here's an experience on the current window tinting prices and finding a price that suits you the most.
Last month, when I bought my first car, I had the wildest ideas about personalizing it and making it an exponent of my personality. I thought of everything, from wild graphics to black windows to flashy head and tail lights. When I went out determining the prices involved, my bubble burst. I wouldn't let go though. I had to get at least of those things I wanted. I settled for the black windows, technically known as window tinting.

As my search began, I learned a lot about what window tinting is. Being just a thin polyester film bound to window glass internally, not only does it add immense aesthetic value to the car, it provides several safety factors, such as protection from harmful ultraviolet rays and reduction of heat absorbed by the window glass. It also holds the window glass together in an event of breakage. My main concern was the mystery it created and the privacy it provided, but knowing about the valuable advantages of window tinting, made the expense worth it. I was overwhelmed by the different window tinting prices prevalent in the market.

Cost of Window Tinting

The cost of window tinting may begin at US $80 with a simple do-it-yourself kit, and may go up to almost US $400 in case of professional installation from a reputed window tinting store. Moreover, there are films for different types of vehicles, ranging from a 2-door passenger car, a 4-door passenger car, to a truck, a minivan and an SUV. Not only that, prices also vary depending on the variety of vehicle models. The cost of window tinting of a Volkswagen is different from a Hyundai.

Also, different window tinting films allow different amounts of light to enter the car interior while affecting how dark the film will look from the exterior. This is known as the Visible Light Transmittance (VLT). Depending on the percentage that is permitted, the type and quality of window film is drastically different from another.

What I was driving was a 4 door passenger car, for which the cost of window tinting ranged between US $150-US $225, including installation and one year's warranty. Certain dealers also provide a lifetime warranty. For those looking for information about trucks, the range begins at US $170 going up to US $250, while for an SUV, the range is between US $170-US $250. These are the average prices and can change as per your requirements.

These reputed tint shops had their high standards; but I had mine. So I started searching the Internet for the best deals on window tinting prices. A friend told me that I could save almost 30%-50%, if I purchased a do-it-yourself (DIY) kit from the Internet. I, however, am very clumsy and the thought of installing window tinting film on my own seemed like a nightmare. Luck favored me yet again, when I found that a friend's cousin was a window film installation professional and would do the job for me at no extra cost. Off I went and purchased the kit which cost me around US $80. I did save almost 50% of the costs.

Searching the Internet was a good idea, because a lot of extra costs that emerge from purchasing window film from a store were eliminated. I know that not everyone knows someone who's a window tinting film installation professional, but not everyone is as clumsy either. I'm sure, the pre-cut window film available for your car would make the job much simpler for you. Besides, there are even DIY tutorials available over the Internet that are sure to help you save costs considerably
