Why You should Overcome the Fear of Success

This article tells you how to deal with the fear of success and not let it stop you from reaching your goals.
While some people may not even understand what the fear of success is, for others this is something that doesn’t let them get ahead in life.

If you constantly find yourself letting go of opportunities you may have the above problem. You have a fear of achieving success and being recognized for it. It can also be a worry about not being able to continue in the path of progress once you are successful.

Symptoms

Recognizing that you have the fear of success is very important if you want to move in the path of recovery. If you keep seeing opportunities that will take you closer to your goal but always let them pass you by, then you may be having this problem.

If you can do a better job but don’t put in any effort while finishing it then that is a sign that you fear success. Self sabotaging and procrastination without any reason are clear signals too.

Some people party or involve themselves in some time consuming thing and then blame it for their bad performance. This may not be a clear signal but if it happens too often, you may want to look into it.

Consequences

This fear can result in lack of effort to achieve your goals. You may also find yourself moving in the path of self destruction. You will see that you have very low motivation.

When you do achieve something you will feel guilty and anxious. You may also start craving for sympathy and help. You will worry that once you become successful and strong, you will no longer get the attention you do today.

How to handle fear of success?

Take an effort to recognize the thoughts that stop you from being your best and dismiss them. By making this a habit, you will slowly be able to stop them from creeping into your mind.

Think of yourself as a happy, healthy and independent person. Learn to accept compliments and feel good about them. Have a close friend who can tell you when they notice the symptoms.

If you get thoughts of being unworthy, replace them with positive thoughts of being successful and happy.
