Why You Need a Barcode Verifier

If you are producing distributing your own products, without a doubt you will need a unique barcode, but you will also need to ensure that each of these barcodes has encrypted the data properly and that the barcode is not damaged and the easiest way of doing this is to use a barcode verifier.
These days the barcode have become a necessity for all business organizations. Hence these bar codes are subjected to certain standards which are specified by the regulating authorities. Whether the bar code follows these standards or not can be checked by the help of machines known as bar code verifiers. The use of bar code verifiers has increased four folds in the industries such as health care, transportation, clothing etc where there is seen an increase in the use of bar code.

Any barcode is required to meet the set of standards which are either ANSI or ISO or both. The purpose of setting these standards is simple – allowing the bar code to be read by a standard barcode scanner available in the market. This even helps to reduce the cost of purchasing different bar code readers for reading different bar codes.

The function of barcode verifier is to check the format of bar code and then grade their findings. This is important since it will help to find a solution if any problem arises in the later stages. The bar code verifiers are so designed to use all the quality parameters be it ANSI or ISO and even ANSI-CEN-ISO which are especially specified for health care, retail and industrial applications. The bar code which passes through all these parameters is said to be accurate without any error. The barcode verifiers used these days are quiet accurate, clear cut defined and highly cost effective in assessing the accuracy of the barcode standards.

The bar code verifiers check the bar code at eight levels. After scanning through each level a grade is assigned ranging from 0.0 to 4.0. The grades acceptable are generally starting at 2.5. On the other hand the verifying grade can be improved further after adjusting the printer when the test line numbers are carefully evaluated.

The purpose is subjecting the barcode to bar code verifier is utmost important. The reason behind this is that if any barcode is comes out to be faulty; there will be a fine which is imposed by the retailer for non complaint bar codes. It will also put an added expense to the business. Above it, there will be complications in tracking and controlling the supply of products.

The latest bar code verifier available in the market are compatible with the LCD and color LEDs for corroboration of the results. The type of verification depends on the individual choice – it can either be static or online. Where the static verification employs the manual verification of all the individual bar codes, the online verification on the other hand assesses multiple bar codes together simultaneously while listing the grading of individual bar codes.

Each of the bar code verifier present in the market has to comply with the international standards-

ISO 15426-1 for linear barcode verifiers and ISO-15426-2T for two-dimensional barcode verifiers

Quality specifications have to be compliant with ISO/IEC 15416 for linear verifiers and ISO/IEC 15415 for two-dimensional ones
The European Standard EN 1635 has now been replaced by ISO IEC 15416

The barcode verifier comes in handy when you require bar codes for your business and needs to keep the extra expenses off the line which may arise because of faulty bar codes.
