Why Many People are Relocting to Places Such as Texas

Sun belt states like Texas continue to attract individuals relocating from around the country. Great schools and a low cost of living are two prime examples why.
Many people from around the country continue to move toward the sun belt states in search of better jobs and an overall better place to live. Large states such as California may have seen its best days behind it as it struggles with over population and massive budget deficits.

And cities in the north such as Michigan continue to see its unemployment rate increase substantially. Texas has some of the largest cities in the United States including Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, and the Dallas-Fortworth Metroplex. And the weather in the winter is much more accommodating than places such as Chicago.

The cost of living in many of these cities is extremely low compared to the rest of the country for such a large metropolitan area. Lower apartment rents and home prices are more moderate and Texas did not play a large role in the real estate prices escalating over the years, and therefore did not see the huge decline as of late.

A homeowner can purchase a $350,000 home in Houston with sufficient square footage and large bedrooms. Katy apartments near Houston are extremely economical with renters being able to acquire three bedroom apartment homes near $1000/month.

Cities like Sugar Land, just southwest of Houston, have received numerous awards for overall living. Plano, Texas recently was discussed as one of the top cities in the United States in terms of overall life. From salaries, real estate costs, and schools, Plano ranks extremely high on the scale.

An article in the Houston Chronicle stated that Houston actually achieved job growth in the month of December. This starkly contrasts what is occurring around the country. Houston, Tx has many job opportunities in the energy sector and has a medical center which employs thousands of people in the healthcare industry.

The only complaint most individuals have about southern states is the heat and humidity in the summer. But many people get used to sweltering summers in exchange for all the benefits received.
