Why Jennifer Love Hewitt and David Cameron have Blogs and Why you should Too
Blogs have grown to over 150 million worldwide - In this article we discuss how a good looking blog can dramatically increase your traffic, credibility and sales.
What does the UK shadow Prime Minister David Cameron have in common with Jennifer Love Hewitt? The answer of course is that they both have their own blogs (and in case you wondered, David’s one is technically better, though Jen’s one is nicer to look at). In case you’ve not got your own blog set-up as yet, somehow and someway…you’d better start thinking about it.
Blogs Continue To Grow From Strength To Strength – And Here’s Why...
There’s a couple of really simple reasons why blogs have grown so strongly over the past few years (to an estimated 150 million worldwide). Once you get past the installation, configuration and set-up (which, no matter what the marketers selling blog-courses tell you, still requires skill and knowhow to get right)…it’s EASY to use blogs to build your business. Blogs have a simple WYSIWYG editor which allows anyone to have their own web presence, and add content to the web regularly and with minimum technical skills.
With websites it’s not quite as simple – for example, even with the best of HTML editors you need a little html knowledge, and you need to know how to FTP to server and all that.
Once your blog is set-up and configured (this is where you need a fair bit of technical skill), getting pages online is as easy as falling off a log.
Secondly, you can do some amazing things with blogs once you learn the fundamentals – such as which are the best plugins, and how to install them. You can add in your own videos, audios, tools…and everything in between.
The Advantages Of Owning A Blog From A Business Perspective
A blog gives you a sound infrastructure from which to promote your own and your affiliate products. Let me be frank – if you’re serious about generating product sales and affiliate commissions, you NEED a dedicated site to show people that you’re a serious and credible online business person. I cannot stress enough, that means having your OWN domain name, and your own blog or website. The reason you cannot seriously host a blog at wordpress or blogger is quite obvious – firstly, it’s a security risk (people HAVE lost their blogs and all the content within on these external servers for a myriad of reasons). And with equal weighting, a blog hosted on blogger or wordpress screams "amateur". And, like it or not, no one wants to do business with an amateur. It’s got to be your own domain.
As a side-note, If you’re online enough, you’ll see a lot of rubbish being promoted that promise newbies false dawns such as "yes – you CAN make a fortune without a website or an opt in list or any arms and legs…blah blah". It’s tripe. In the long run you need your own web presence, and don’t let anyone con you into thinking anything else. And a blog fits that bill perfectly.
Let’s take last week as an example. We saw Mike Filsaime launch his Traffic Fusion thingy - and his minions who promoted the program scarpered off with commissions worth over seven hundred bucks per sale. You know I did not promote it, and we wont go into why (see my blog if you’re itching to know) – but the point is you can bet that everyone who made those large commissions on that launch had their own blog or website. To the victor belong the spoils, and as a blog owner, you really are the victor.
If you’re new online, then a blog is an ideal starting point to get a web presence. I mean come on, both David Cameron and Jennifer Love Hewitt can’t be wrong.
