Why Do We Need Calcium to Stay Healthy
There are quite a few reasons why we need to make sure that we are getting enough calcium in our diet to stay healthy. Strong bones is just one of them.
Calcium one of the bodies needed nutrients is often overlooked by us and not made a regular part of our diet. It is important that we take a fresh look at calcium and why it is needed in order for our bodies to stay healthy.
Calcium in fact does many things for the body. It is great for bones, plays an important part in the health of our muscles and keeps our nerves working properly. It also helps our blood clot and keeps our heart functioning well.
When a person does not get enough calcium their body begins taking it from their bones. This is why so many people are at risk for such diseases as osteoporosis. This is a disease, which mainly affects older people, however; the risks associated with your body not having enough calcium can affect any age. Children need calcium in order for their bones to develop properly. Pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding need calcium to help the baby grow.
A person can easily obtain calcium in their diets and it is not one of those nutrients, which poses any risk if you were to take in too much of it. It is easily absorbed into the body and used. People may obtain calcium from their foods, through eating the recommended allowance of dairy daily, eating greens and making healthy choices by eating foods that are high in calcium or have extra added as many foods out there do today.
