Why do I Always Get New Viruses?

Does it seem like the internet hates you and always sends viruses to your computer? Here are some ways you can avoid that in the future
Does it seem like the internet hates you? Is it always sending new viruses to your computer? I hope it isnt that bad and trust me, the internet doesnt hate you. There can be many different reasons to explain why new viruses are turning up on your computer. It may not be your antivirus software’s fault, it could just as easily be something you are doing or failing to do. You need to ask yourself the following questions:

1. Are you updating your antivirus software? When new viruses come out, the guys who make your antivirus software find a way to detect it and make a new file available for your software. If you are not downloading these new files (virus definitions) you are leaving yourself unprotected from the viruses these files are designed to find.

2. Are you using p2p sites? If you or someone in your house is using some kind of p2p site like morpheus or limewire to download free music files, you might just as well turn off all the security features on your computer. The programs this kind of site installs, creates a shared folder on your hard drive that anyone can access. If that is not bad enough, every whack-job on the internet knows they can create the sickest kind of video or virus and then share them on this site if they change the name of it to some song that kids want to download.

3. Are you confusing a virus with malware? There are some programs out there that drive people nuts, win xp antivirus 2008 is a good example. This kind of program is designed to drive you to their website and get you to buy a product. This is not a virus and many of the antivirus programs out there are powerless against them. If your antivirus program does not come with a malware scanner then search Google for the word MALWAREBYTES. Malwarebytes is a great, free program that detects and removes malware and other things that your antivirus might not be designed to find. It works well with most antivirus programs available.
