Why Did You Leave Me? Chapter 4

-Few Months Later-

After that little rescue from Ryan, I began to talk to him more. Benny got over the whole jealousy thing and became friendlier with him, too. I still didn’t feel comfortable about talking about my old Ryan, but it got a lot easier.

It was Saturday morning and I was sleeping in, until my phone started to vibrate. I answered it on the fifth ring.

"Hello…" My voice was all groggy.

"Morning sun shine!" Benny chuckled on the other line.

"Oh, hey Ben. It’s so early! What’s up?"

"It’s almost 12, April!" He laughed again and I could just see him shaking his head. "Anyway, I’m on my way over to your house. See you in a few!" After that he hung up.

"Aw crap…I have to get up now!" I mumbled to myself.
I got up and took a shower to wake myself up. I quickly changed into a tank and a short. Then I dried my hair, but ended up braiding it anyway. When I walked downstairs to get some breakfast, the door bell rang. I unlocked the door and smiled up at Benny.

"Hey, love." He hugged me and stepped inside.

I yawned, and hugged him back. "I was gonna sleep in!"

He chuckled yet again. "Sorry hun."

I made a face, but let it go. We walked into the kitchen and I grabbed some cereal.

"So, what are we doing today?" I asked, in between chews.

"Hmm, I don’t know. Just hang out as usual."

"How about we go watch that new movie?" I asked, dumping the
rest of the cereal down the drain.

"Alright, and then we can hit the beach later." He wrapped one of his arm around my waist and dragged me out of the house, getting his car keys on the way.

-After the movie-

"Hm…that was interesting I guess." I said, throwing the pop corn away.

"Yeah definitely." He replied.

We got into our car driving towards the beach. It was late, and the sun was setting. When we actually got to the beach, it was beautiful. We parked the car, and took off our shoes leaving them in the car. We started to walk down the beach, letting the sand go through my toes.

"This is nice." I sighed, thinking about my old Ryan.
Benny stopped suddenly and wrapped his arm around my waist, right above my hip. Then he cradled my face, bending down.

I was surprised.

"April, are you still thinking about Ryan?" He murmured softly.
I sighed again trying to look away from his gaze.

"Answer me."

"Yes…I can’t help it." I said, finally looking at him.
Then out of nowhere, Benny leaned down farther and kissed me. I tried to break away, but it felt good. His lips were soft, just like Ryan's.

"Benny, stop!" I finally stopped , breaking away from his arms.

"Wait, April, I’m sorry. That wasn’t very smart of me…" He came closer.

"It’s okay…"

"But I need to tell you something." He wrapped his arm around me again, but did it more gently this time.

"Look, I don’t know how it happened, but I think I love you…I mean more than as a friend." He murmured softly in my ears.

"Benny…" That was all I could manage. ‘This can’t be happening…’ I thought.

"Will you be mine, April? Please? It won’t be any different than how things are going now…" Benny looked away shyly.

I sighed once again thinking about this. I mean it didn’t seem like my old Ryan was ever going to come back, but then again, what will happen when he does? I had to get over him…

"Sure, Benny." I didn’t know if I made the right choice but I went along with it.
