Let your Domain Name represent you as a serious Network Marketer...
Why a Network Marketer Needs a Domain Name
Domain forwarding is one sure way of demonstrating how serious you are about your Network Marketing Business. Having your own Domain Name is similar to having a name for your traditional business. Once your prospect types in the name of your Internet Based Business in their browser and enter, they are at your store front. You are now telling them that you are the owner of your own Home Based Internet Business, not an affiliate for some company. After all you are a Home Based Internet Business Entrepreneur.

Choosing a Domain Name for your Home Based Business requires careful consideration as this helps to build the professionalism and branding of you the Network Marketers. Remember you are trying to create an impression on the person whom you are targeting, so you want to choose a name that speaks volume for your business.

There is also the advantage of using a redirect website when you own your domain name. Network Marketers, often use a replicated or affiliate link to market the products that are being offered. The replicated of affiliate link can be fairly long as they consist of the domain name of the company you are representing in addition to your affiliate ID or username. Your prospect will not remember the domain name in addition to the extension.

The affiliate link for a representative for a company with domain name www.xyz.com would look something like www.xyz.123.com. The 123 in the affiliate link represents the affiliate's identification and this is to ensure that the affiliate is rewarded for the sales generated using this link. Your affiliate link is not important to the prospect and once they realize that they can access the site using the primary domain they will most likely just go ahead and use it. Now you have just given away your referral or sale because your prospect did not remember to add your username or id with your affiliate link, if you had just forwarded the affiliate link to your domain, you would have earned yourself your commission.

The bottom line is once you give a customer a primary domain name with additional information attached, you stand the chance of having your prospect not remembering the extra information and you lose business this way.

When registering a domain name, there are certain guidelines you need to follow;

Choose a name that is easy to tell, spell and remember.

Register plural and hyphenated versions of your domain name. In case it is spelt incorrectly you will still not miss out on your credit. Also, as your business grow and become a household name others will try to capitalize on your effort if you leave possible leap hole.

Use top keywords in the domain itself as Search Engines give high relevance to domain with top keywords and .com over extensions like .net, .info, .biz or .org.

Avoid using numbers unless you are able to purchase both in numerical and alphabetical domain names.

It is advised to use a neutral name and not a name that is associated with a particular product or company. Remember, as a Network Marketer you are an independent contractor and your domain name belongs to you. In the event that you no longer represent your current company, you are able to use your domain name with your new company. That way you keep control of your prospects, they do not know what company you are representing until they are told or see the presentation.

This may not be necessary, but it is recommended that in addition to buying the plural and hyphenated version of your domain name you purchase the .com, .biz, .info and .net extensions.

You will find that as you begin the process of choosing a domain name, nine out ten of the names that you select would have already been taken. Think of a Company Name or "Doing Business As". Remember to choose a name that is generic and represents your business in the best way possible.
