Who's Afraid of the Dark? - Part 3

Another installment. I hope you enjoy it is not all of Chapter 3 as you will see if you read it.
Chapter 3: In which the real explanation of a monster is needed.

My stomach churned and I began to feel uneasy, I didn't like the thought of something so horrible being inside my house. It could probably smell the fear that was radiating from me. Slowly but surely two ample red eyes pinned me in the position I was stood. If I were able to run before but was too stupid to I wasn't now. I knew if I ran that the animal instinct in the beast would take over and it would give chase.

Stand your ground.
I told myself. My heart beating, twenty to the dozen, I stared back hoping beyond hope that it was territorial and would shy away if I gave no intentions of running. To my great horror the beastly creature did not move either.

"RAWR!" shouted baby Ric into the silence that was threatening to swallow me whole. The great animal roared as if in agreement to little Ric and came one step closer.

My arms automatically clasped Ric tighter to me. Another step and the monster would be upon us. A rumbling sound echoed off each of the walls, it felt as if it had echoed through my body. The beastie was now upon us I could feel its breath tickling my cheek and suddenly something soft had touched my cheek.

Then the dark spots swallowed me up into the eternal darkness.
