Who Needs Family? You and I do!

Family is one of the most important things in lives,
Without family, who can survive?
It’s the glue that sticks us through good times and bad,
To prevent us from going mad!

Sure, they can be a real pain,
They’ll make you go insane!
You may have read in school books,
How a perfect family looks.

The Dad always wore a suit, drove a shiny car,
On Sunday - raked leaves in the garden,
Wearing a hand-knitted cardigan,
The Mum wore a checked apron and red lipstick,
And baked cakes and arranged flowers. Unrealistic?
The Brothers and sisters always polite and smiling,
Even the dog and cat were behaving!
Too good to be true?
That’s life, for me and you!

Truth is families come in all shapes and sizes,
That is what life is!
A family might not include a Mum, Dad, brother or sister
It may just be you and your father,
Or you may be with a fostered family,
Or live with your mum and grandparents, like me!
Perhaps you find yourself coping with a new step mum and stepsister,
But whoever, they make your life more complicated than ever.

Families are never perfect, I’ll agree!
They are strict, embarrassing, infuriating and stressy!
Sometimes they drive you crazy,
But still, they are YOUR family.
You gotta love em’!
