Who Am I Really? - Chapter 3
Robert and Madison change their attitudes and Madison has a chance at escape.
I kept running until I realized that I'd ran from a back room and I was heading for a river rapids, but I couldn't turn around because I could hear Robert behind me and he wasn't slowing down. I had to call the police.
"Madison Lee Wilson! Get back here right now!" I heard him shout from behind me. I tried to run faster but tripped over a tree root and rolled down a hill and into the river rapids. As I gasped for air I saw Robert's face shocked as he spotted me in the river rapids, he turned and ran off. 'Great' I thought 'my father doesn't even help me when I'm drowning in a river'. The last thing I saw before my body shut down was Robert tying a rope to the tree that tripped me and then he turned and ran for me.
"Breathe! Breathe dammit!" I heard as I felt hands pushing at my chest. CPR, Rob was giving me CPR, I had drowned.
"C'mon don't die like this." He cried. I coughed and spluttered, Rob helped me sit up and cough up the water.
"Thanks." I choked out between coughs.
"Anytime." He smiled, I didn't expect him to hug me, but he did.
By the time we had gotten back to the house I had changed my thought of Robert, he saved my life even though I had smashed his window and run away from him. He allowed me to sleep in a proper bed and as I walked through the house I saw pictures of me as a baby and I noticed a baby room that had been trashed.
"Madison, this will be your room." Rob told me quietly while opening a door to a beautiful room that had a bathroom connecting off it. I was dumbstruck! I stood in the doorway with my jaw dropped. After everything I had done to Robert he still had chosen to give me a nice room.
"This... is... my... room?" I asked in shock, I turned to face him and he was smiling.
"Yes, I wanna be able to make sure you're safe and alive throughout the night." He looked at me lovingly.
That night I realized why he didn't mind me being here in this room, it also had a deadlock, he had locked me up again but this time in a nicer room. I began to hear police sirens outside the house and the police had begun shouting through a megaphone telling Robert to let me go and then get on the ground outside the front door. I was worried, Robert had saved my life, a gunshot. I jumped out of the bed and ran to the door. It was unlocked so I ran towards the front door but stopped when I saw Robert was inside the house. I stood in the doorway.
"Don't shoot!" I yelled, "Robert saved my life earlier today!" I shouted walking towards the cop cars.
"Wait! Maddie!" Rob yelled, "They'll take you back to your mother, she lied to you." He told me. I stopped in my tracks and turned back to the door. Hands wrapped around my waist and dragged me towards a police car.
"No!" Robert and I both shouted. Rob came out of the house and wrestled me out of the cop's arms and we ran back into the house and shut the door. We huffed and puffed and then slid down the door.
"Thanks." I smiled at my father and he smiled back, I noticed a twinkle in his eye when he looked at me.
"Why wasn't the room locked?" I asked standing up.
"Because after what happened today, I'm hoping that you trust me enough to not try to run away again." He stood up next to me and walked me to the kitchen, we turned on the light and saw someone completely unexpected...
