Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown Divorce

The divorce will be finalized on April 24 and it has been reportedly that custody of the couple'’ 14-year old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was awarded to Houston. The singer appeared in court on Wednesday and testified that she did not need any spousal or child support and that Brown was not dependable. Houston said of Brown, "He’s unreliable. If he says he’s going to come, sometimes he does. Usually he doesn’t." Brown’s attorney, Ram Cogan, said that he will file a motion to overturn the judge’s ruling. Brown did not appear in court.

Brown and Houston were married in June 1992 and she gave birth to Bobbi Kristina in March of 1993. Houston, 43, filed for a legal separation from Brown, 39, on September 8 and filed for divorce on October 16. She requested a "default judgement" to fast track the divorce on December 28. Houston has been pretty quiet about the separation and subsequent divorce and Brown has stated that he is "really saddened by the whole situation." He has been keeping a low profile since his late February arrest for failing to appear in court and failure to pay child support for his children, LaPrincia and Bobby III, with ex-girlfriend Kim Ward. Houston has been cleaning up her act and has been working on a comeback album with Clive Davis, president of J Records.

Houston and Brown have had a rocky relationship right from the start. She was on top of her game when the two began dating. The wholesome singer with the beautiful voice and the self-proclaimed bad boy raised more than a few eyebrows. The last 14 years have been littered with rumors of drug use, physical abuse, and infidelity. Houston has reportedly been battling a heavy drug addiction and has not been performing for quite some time. Finally she was able to break away from Brown and hopefully she is getting her life and her career back on track.
