Whitney Houston’s Auction
It has been reported that hundreds of items belonging to Whitney Houston are to be auctioned off next week.

Reportedly the auction is set to take place because Houston has failed to pay her storage bill since 2005. The storage facility, Speed of Sound, applied for a court order to auction off the singer’s belongings after her company Nippy, Inc did not pay $150,000 in storage costs. The auction is scheduled to take place at AJ Willner Auctions in Irvington, New Jersey next Tuesday and is expected to bring in a lot of money.
Auctioneer Steve Newmark reportedly said, "It’s a warehouse full of stuff from her shows. There’s some pretty personal stuff in there. Even her underwear is in there." He went on to say, "The auction is open to the public, but only for qualified buyers. We’re probably going to combine a lot of the individual items, like the costumes. It’s not for a teenage fan hoping to buy one of her trinkets." Also up for auction are 16 music awards belonging to Houston’s estranged husband Bobby Brown. There are a reported 335 items up for auction.
Nancy Seltzer, Houston’s rep, tells a different tale. She claims that the auction has nothing to do with the singer’s money problems. Seltzer said, "She is selling equipment, as many artists do, that is out of date." Seltzer continued, "Many artists get rid of the old stage equipment and costuming they don’t need any more. That is what is happening." Musical instruments, a leather whip, velvet bodysuits adorned with the singer’s initials, evening dresses, and a slot machine are also to be auctioned off.
