Are you tired of having breakouts on your skin? Have you constantly tried to get rid of whiteheads without much success? I am sure almost everybody at some point must have tried various ways to control these whiteheads by using cream, soaps and products that promise to wipe off whiteheads and blemishes from your skin in just 7 days! Well, days turn into months and months turn into years, but somehow these whiteheads tend to cling to your skin with complete loyalty, despite your efforts!

So, what are whiteheads exactly?
These are tiny, white raised spots on the skin. Whiteheads are actually an excess collection of sebum and keratin that blocks the opening of the skin pore. Whiteheads are mainly caused due to an excessive secretion of the sebum oil. The surface of the whiteheads does not get darkened unlike blackheads, as the clogged grease inside is not exposed to the air. Therefore the oxidation does not actually happen. The pore being closed, keeps the area white, hence the term whitehead.

Where do these Whiteheads occur?
Whiteheads are known to appear in those areas of the skin, which is very delicate and fine. This would mean the area under the eyes, nose, cheekbones etc. Unlike blackheads, whiteheads can occur anywhere. So, how does one actually get rid of whiteheads? There are various ways one can go about this. You need to follow a beauty routine as well as watch what you eat. Here are some ways to get rid of whiteheads and have a clean and clear skin.

Treatment for Whiteheads:
  • First and foremost-drink lots of water. This would ensure you have clear skin always. If your skin does not get the required content of moisture, it gets dry and dehydrated and the dead skin cells are not shed at a faster rate. This is what leads to the clogging of the pores and breakouts on the skin.
  • Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. These would provide you with the essential minerals and vitamins. You can even opt to snack on nuts. Do keep these within limits though!
  • You can even have a glass of warm water with some juice of lemon as soon as you wake up in the morning. This proves to be a great way to detoxify the body.
  • Make homemade pastes or packs for the treatment of whiteheads. Use roasted and powdered pomegranate skin with fresh limejuice. Make a paste of this and apply it over the affected area. This is useful for blackheads as well. Another effective method would be to make a paste of sandalwood with rose water. Keep it on for 20 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water. Try 1 tablespoon of groundnut oil with 1 tablespoon of fresh limejuice and leave it on the affected area for a few minutes. This will help to prevent the breakout of whiteheads.
  • Use Jojoba oil as a moisturizer for the skin. This is especially helpful when you finish with a good scrub.
  • Avoid using too many harsh products or cosmetics on your skin. If needed, look for herbal substitutes, which are mild, or opt for options that can be made at home.
  • Avoid getting stressed out at work or with personal problems! Being stressed out leads to a hormonal imbalance and this increases the sebum secretion. This would lead to a breakout of whiteheads. Therefore, maintain a good exercise routine, which would help to reduce the stress levels and increase the flow of the blood to the skin.
