Whispered Dreams - Chapter 21 The First Conversation

Danny's pov

When I saw Zoey rushing like a freak, I got worried almost immediately and started following her. When I saw someone starting to pull her that’s when I went into a complete ninja mode. I mean I was about to slaughter that filthy guy whoever decided to grab her hand.

But well the ninja mode didn’t work; someone pulled me before I could save Zoey.

"Where the fuck do you think you’re going?" a girly voice said as she slammed me in the wall.

Some strong chick she is. I looked around, it was the storage room, darkness everywhere except for the little sunlight stroking here and there from the window.

"What? Who the fuck are you to ask me that?" I asked as I pretended to get angry.

I was a wee bit more curious as to who this chick was.

"What?" she sounded genuinely angry.

"Dude it’s me Mel. What the hell?"Mel stood forward just where a ray of light hit her face.

Wow… she looked… amazing. Was this chick always this beautiful? Well whenever I saw her she always looked pissed before. To be honest, Zo’s so-called friends always looked ticked off by me, the chick, the Rick and the dick. Wow that actually rhymed.

"Why do you have that goofy grin on your face?" she asked, her ticked off face back.

"Well I’m a happy person unlike you and your little group who always looked pissed" I retorted.

"Whatever Danny…"she said never moving from her place.

"So you gonna tell me what’s with the entire grabbing thing?"

"Look I didn’t want to do this, but Zo loves Jake and Jake loves Zo, so I don’t want you coming in between and ruining things" she said getting angrier every second.

"What? How the hell am I getting dragged into all this?"

She arched her eyebrow up and used her witchy voice, "Aren’t you Zo’s boyfriend?"

I widened my eyes. "I thought you knew it was just a joke?"

"Yeah I know dumbass, but what kinda lame joke is that? I mean who jokes" she air bracketed the word jokes "about that kinda stuff?"

"Well I do" I snapped a little too loud.

"Look you’ve gotta understand, Jake and Zo they’re best friend, they know each other, they belong to each other and they love each other" she said rubbing her face with her hand.

"Well clearly it’s not enough, they’re not even talking to each other and apparently Jake’s ignoring Zo"

"That’s your fucking fault! I mean where the hell did you come from? One week Zo was our girl, our best friend, my bff and the next week she’s your girlfriend? We didn’t even know you existed!" she hissed back.

"Well you gotta keep your eyes open blonde" I said trying to tick her off more.

Something about the way she spoke between her teeth, so damn sexy!

"Fuck it Danny, don’t you see just how much we, and when I say we I mean I, hate you? You can’t be that unobservant that you didn’t notice our, I mean my death glares."

I smiled back in respond. I mean who could be that inattentive to responses such as fake coughs or loud noises when you’re trying to speak? I noticed it all, but who gives a shit? Zo was a fun company, and she was a hell of a great friend.

"You noticed didn’t you?" she announced. " I’m not like that Danny. I don’t hate people in the first sight, I don’t judge people but I couldn’t help the anger when I saw you with Zo. I mean you two were together just like I pictured Zo and Jake to be." She said her tone a little apologetic.

"Urgh… I mean when the freaking hell, will Jake get it? He loves Zo so much, fuck him!" she said growing furious by every word.

"Angry much?" I asked.

"You think?"

"Well, I’m not after Zo like a crazy psychopath so you can breathe easy" I said trying to calm her down.

"She’s a cool friend and I’d like to be your friend as well but"

Okay didn’t mean to say that. Total douche moment! Fuck it!

I was rubbing the back of my neck like an ass, but then she giggled. Man that sound was so cute, like I don’t know what, but it was real cute.

"Danny, I’d love to be your friend. I’m pretty sure Rick and Jake would too once they’re sure you’re not after ruining our best friend’s divine love story" she said.

All I could do was laugh in return. She was amazing! I mean all that bullshit Zo said about this girl wasn’t bullshit at all, it seemed all true now that I actually talked to her.

"I seriously doubt that, I mean I’m pretty sure that dick would" she cleared her throat loudly cutting me off.

"The dick you’re talking about is my brother" she said.

I widened my eyes; Mel and that douche are related?

"Well, right now I can’t even argue with that, Jake’s been acting like a complete retard this summer, but he’s got a bad first impression thingie. I mean when I first met him, he pulled my hair and ran away with my bag!" she said shaking her head disapprovingly and sitting at the door.

"You must’ve cried so hard huh?" I teased as I took the seat next to her.

"Cried me? Ha-ha… I took off my sandal and threw it at his little head. He was so mad at first; his anger is still the same, one- little angry guy"

"So how did you guys become friends? I mean brother-sister"

"That’s a funny and a very long story" she said.

"Well we do have whole 30 minutes you know" I said trying to disguise the anxiousness.

I was never this curious about a freaking girl story. I wanted to keep talking to her, like never let her stop or go. Shit… sounded like a cheesiest line ever.

"Well, after that event some senior guy, as in grade 4 guy I guess, started pulling my hair. Jake wasn’t even talking to me, he suddenly came up from behind and punched the guy in the face and said in his little boy voice, I swear it was so cute, ‘don’t you mess with her, she’s my little sister!’ and I went and grabbed him tight." She said playing with her scarf.

"After that, no one dared mess with me or him. That’s pretty much it"

"When was that?" I asked.

"Like 10 years ago, we were in 2nd grade"

"Wow… that’s a really long time"

We started talking about other stuff; I guess she got the message that I didn’t want her to leave. Great… now this will be the first and the last conversation we’ll ever have! Something inside me knew I won’t let that happen. I guess this is how stalkers actually feel. Damn it!

I was about to ask something else, but suddenly the door to the computer lab opened loudly, like with real force. We both stood up to see what’s going on and found a furious Zo stomping her way out.

"Zo c’mon let me…" Jake said.

Zo stopped almost too dramatically and turned around.

"Save it Jake! You know what, now I see Danny is so much better than you are. Screw you Jake!" she yelled as she ran away from the dark hallway.

Mel and I looked at each other; my expression was like I just got an electric shock while Mel was staring me DOWN! Did Zo just say that? Why the hell was SHE comparing me with Jake?

"Now look what you’ve done" Mel whispered as Jake passed us with his head down.
