Which Internet Business Will You Start?
Don't know which Internet business to begin? This article will put you on the right track...
If you have ever thought of starting an Internet business, what I'm about to share will interest you. There are numerous business models on the web, and choosing the right one to fit your strengths is crucial for short-term and long-term success. Here are some business models I want to share with you:
1) Selling Physical Goods
In some ways, this is similar to offline business. The main difference is that the medium has changed. And this is a big difference because you now have a wider audience to target, on top of having lower overheads. If you use dropshipping (a procedure that does not require holding inventory), your overhead can be very low.
However the problem is competition. You will be selling the same products as many other similar stores out there. For me, I believe using eBay is the best method to sell physical goods, because your marketing is taken care off big time through the leverage of eBay's high traffic.
2) Affiliate Marketing
This is a great way for a beginner to start. One can learn the fundamentals of online marketing without putting too much at risk. You can sell a company's products and get paid a commission, but you do not have to hold any inventory, process orders, or deal with customer service. The only thing you need to do is drive traffic to your affiliate link and cash in your commission checks when they arrive.
There are a few ways to go about affiliate marketing. Some build large content rich sites that have affiliate links in them. Others use Adwords to drive traffic to their affiliate link. Both have their pros and cons, and some affiliate marketers use both methods.
3) Information Marketing
The information industry has always been a huge one. Think of the offline industry at the moment and magazines, newspapers and books remain big business. And now that has translated over to the Internet.
Selling information is probably the ultimate business in the world.
If you think about it, informaton does not cost much to produce. With digital items like ebooks and software, your cost of delivery is zero and your customer receives instant access to your products. We have seen how effective this is in the mp3 industry, where the iTunes phenomenon has taken off.
People are always looking for information on how to solve problems. Even though all this information is available for free on the Internet, people will pay you top dollar if you can package all of it into a neat ebook, or give the impression that you have secrets that others do not have.
Those are the three main business models on the web at the moment. There are others, like making money with Adsense, but very few people make a full time income with them, because they are not real businesses. Choose your business model to suit your strengths. If you love to create content, start in the info business. If you enjoy marketing, start with affiliate marketing, and so on.
