Where's the Best Place to Retire in the US?
If you're pondering on a place to retire to, I would say go for a place with thriving economy that offers all of the "conveniences" to make your retirement lifestyle relaxed and carefree. I've researched and studied quite a few places that have the mentioned "conveniences" and I think they can be good candidates for you to pick as one of your 10 best places to retire.
You reckon where's the best place to retire in the US?
From my study and research on places to retire to, I give thumbs up for the charming Dutch community of Holland, Michigan.
What's so charming about Holland that it attracts droves of people to flock here to retire?
You really can appreciate what Holland can offer you:
- Reasonable cost of living.
- Warm, pleasant climate.
- Low crime rate.
- A thriving economy.
- Good ambience in terms of historic preservation, performing arts, dine & wine establishments.
- A suite of comprehensive services provided by the hospitals, clinics, libraries, communities and clubs.
- Availability of continuing education.
I think Holland has the ingredients you (and I) want, as the best place to retire.
Loads of culture, lots of greeneries, tranquil and peaceful surroundings and relaxed ambience that satisfy your desire to pursuit an active lifestyle, if you so incline or your dream to just have a lay-back quiet lifestyle of white, sandy beaches and soft sea breezes...
Holland is one of Lake Michigan's popular beachtowns. It's located 30 miles west of Grand Rapids and 173 miles from Detroit. It houses a population of about 35,000 and is home to more than 6 million tulips.
It's famed for the only authentic working Dutch windmill (a 279-year-old piece) situated on Windmill Island.
You'll be charmed by the city's historical preservations such as the only Delftware factory in the US, a wooden shoe factory and a Dutch Village which reenacts 1890s' life in the Netherlands.
You'll love Holland's cobblestone downtown area, which is designed with a special snowmelt system under the sidewalks, making the downtown area a shopper's haven all year round.
More.
Holland continues to enchant you with these offings:
- The annual Tulip Time Festival in May, one of the largest flower festivals in the US, featuring tours, parades, concerts and many other interesting activities.
- Its own symphony orchestra, museums, galleries and the downtown educational community of Hope College which offers classes on various subjects of interests.
- Beautiful beach areas and state parks for watersports, fishing, golf, hiking, leisure strolling...
- The 900-acre Saugatuck Dunes State Park, located south of Holland, offers 14 miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails and a coastal dune system on Lake Michigan.
Ah...These enough to convince you Holland is the best place to retire and lure you there?
If I were you, I'll start making inquiries now.
The earlier you book Holland, the better for you, to get plenty of headway before others start to swarm unto it in droves.
