Where is God?

God is the knowledge or wisdom that is to be known and attained by us. The realization or consciousness of sameness towards all beings – that all are forms of God or all are God – is the knowledge and wisdom that is God.
Where is God?
The famous poet saint of India, Kabir, once spoke a beautiful couplet that delves deep into the mystery of man and God. He said that the musk deer keeps roaming in the forest searching for the source of the tantalizing fragrance of musk that is within its very navel. Man too is fascinated by God and his divine powers, and for ages he has been searching for the Supreme everywhere. But like the deluded musk deer, he has failed to know God that is within him.

Giving the knowledge of God through the Bhagavad Gita Lord Krishna reveals that the Supreme God resides in the hearts of all beings and He is knowledge and wisdom. Jesus Christ also said that God is a Word and all things have been created by the Word that is God. All the prophets were the messengers of the knowledge and wisdom that is God. In fact the very knowledge and wisdom given by the prophets is God. If this is the truth then are we not fools that we go about seeking God in temples, in places of pilgrimage and in mountains? This proves without doubt that we are totally deluded beings, who instead of believing in the words of a great incarnation like Lord Krishna keep trying our own means to find God.

And do you know what is most amusing? We go about worshiping Lord Krishna and have erected thousands of temples dedicated to him all over the world. We pray to him, sing hymns in his praise and make rich offerings in his temples. And yet in spite of all this we have ignored his words of wisdom, wherein he has very clearly told us that God is nowhere outside but he is inside and that He is knowledge and wisdom. Is it not a paradox that on the one hand we revere Lord Krishna so much and on the other we have not paid heed to his words of wisdom?

The truth that God is knowledge and wisdom and lives in one’s heart has come out in a very lucid manner in the wonderful book You Are God written by Shashi Verma. The book based on the teachings of Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita, brings to light the true meaning of the words of Lord Krishna for the first time. The author explains that every person can reach God by being devoted to the knowledge and wisdom given by the prophets of God. This will lead him to the Supreme God residing in his or her heart. One has to stop regarding all forms depicted in pictures and idols and has to instead worship the God within. And, hold your breath, by doing so one is able to see the supreme God which is in the form of divine light in just four weeks!

What is this method of devotion to God living in the heart that was revealed by Lord Krishna? To know more about this very easy method, lay your hands on the path breaking book You Are God - The Bhagavad Gita as never before or log on to the website here.
