Where Darkness Thrives - Part X/Epilogue (THE ENDING :O)

Years past, Humans lived in fear, fear of the night, of the creatures that lived in it. Merrick ruled for a long, long time, before he went insane, so controlled by Darkness that eventually it destroyed him. Someone new took control, and cleaned up the mess Merrick and Darla had made, they got humans to believe they’d killed all the vampires, and eventually they were forgotten. Near a hundred years after what was named ‘the years of death’, Merrick was reborn as a boy named Devin, and one day he was walking by a store, when he heard music playing, he only heard part of the lyrics though.

*It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you,
It can creep up inside you and consume you,
A disease of the mind, it can control you,
I feel like a monster-*

And they chilled him to the bone. Later that week, there were words bouncing around in his head, begging to be written. Something came over him, and he wrote them out on a piece of paper, unable to control himself.

Darkness is something to fear,
It is not something to ever disappear,
It lies in wait,
Waiting for the time of fate,
It consumes,
And dooms,
All who enter.

Those words seemed so familiar, yet he’d never heard them before. That night, he dreamed of a boy in a library, he had shaggy black hair and glowing red eyes, he was going through book after book after book, until finally, he saw something, something he’d never, ever forget. It was the words to Devin’s poem. Suddenly, the boy was encased in sort of a dark mist, it went inside his heart, and his head until it had all been absorbed, it made two little words play in his mind, just two, two simple words that would change everything.
Kill. Darla.
