I forced myself to walk calmly to her throne room, it was killing me though, I just wanted to rip her throat out already, I even wanted to kill all her guards, but I knew they could be helpful when I was king, when I ruled the vampire world, just as I knew Darla had dreamed, and since her dream came true, why couldn’t mine? There was no reason, she was happy now, so she’d be fine in death, and I’d get what I wanted. Win-win, or that’s how I saw it, I didn’t really care for her opinion, I knew I was a pawn in her game, she didn’t love me, she didn’t even like me. Well, I was about to show her just how much she meant to me.

- Darla’s POV

I sat there, bored, looking at my perfectly manicured nails. I heard a sound, like a door opening, and looked up, it was Merrick. I smiled at him, though I felt nothing. He looked different, odd really; there was a strange feeling about him, like something hovering around him, pulsing. The presence was hard to ignore, but I did.
"Merrick, what do you need?" I asked sweetly.
"Well, I have something to talk to you about, something…" He looked at my guards, who were standing on either side of me. "Private,"
I nodded, shooing my guards away, unafraid. "So what’s up?"
"You never told me what Darkness was." He said, his voice turning hard.
"That’s all?" I gave a short laugh. "Well, I’ll tell you-"
He attacked me,
Flat out jumped onto me,

- Merrick’s POV

"That’s all?" She asked, giving a laugh. It infuriated me further. "Well, I’ll tell you-"
I couldn’t resist, I attacked her, ripping her from her chair, I shoved her to the floor, but she was up in an instant.
"What the hell, Merrick?" She was mad now, but I didn’t care, I was stronger, I always would be. I grabbed her and shoved her back to the floor, then I ripped off her legs painfully. She screamed. I was surprised guards didn’t come running. They probably thought we were doing something else…

I grinned at the thought of them thinking that, then got back to Darla. I took out the lighter I always kept with me and lit her disembodied legs, I made her watch them burn as she screamed and growled at me, fierce even through pain. I enjoyed the fire burning her legs, devouring her clothes, and turning her skin to ash. She snapped her teeth at me, I hardly noticed. I took one of her hands and held the lighter to her middle finger. She growled again.

'You wouldn’t dare,' her eyes said.
I smiled cruelly. 'Oh, wouldn’t I?' I shot back.
I lit the lighter; she clenched her teeth, obviously trying to hide her pain. I burned off each of her fingers slowly, but then got bored, I took the crown from her head, at my touch, it turned into a kings crown, instead of a ridiculous little princess tiara. I placed it on my head and slipped my hands around her neck, sitting on her stomach. She was breathing hard, and tears streamed her face.
"Don’t worry," I crooned, "It’s almost over."
"Darkness," She said through clenched teeth. "Is what you have become. It’s what controls you."

I snapped, and ripped her head off, yelling. "No one controls me! You never did! No one ever has, and no one, ever, will!" And with that, the deed was done, she was gone. I threw the lit lighter on her, and watched it turn her into a pile of ash, before announcing to the world I was the new king, and setting off on my first hunt, the one that would show the world that vampires exist, and that no one was, or would ever be, safe. But on the hunt, there were a set of words that wouldn’t leave my mind.

*It’s a thief in the night to come and grab you,
It can creep up inside you and consume you,
A disease of the mind, it can control you,
I feel like a monster-*
Whatd'yaa think?
Omigod, nooooo! She's Gone (sob)!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay, she's dead :)
Meh.
I hate your story. Just sayin'
I didn't really like her, but I didn't think she should die ...
