Where can I Mountain Bike in Seattle?

If you're going to be in Seattle, don't forget to check out some of the cool mountain biking trails in the area.
Even if you've never been to Seattle and are looking to visit for the first time, you're probably aware of the fact that it is a pretty outdoor-oriented society. Well, in addition to whale watching, kayaking, and cycling in general, mountain biking is a very popular sport in the northwest.

Trails Galore
There are a lot of reasons that make a place a good place for mountain biking. One of the things that makes Seattle such a nice place to ride is because of the sheer beauty of the Northwest. You've got mountains, forests, lakes, beaches, and everything in between to make biking an absolute treat no matter what terrain you decide to go with.

Because there is so much different terrain to ride, Seattle is a good place for any level of mountain biker. There are plenty of trails that are perfect for kids, but more experienced riders also have the opportunity to push their abilities to the edge with some more complicated trails. Because there is so much interest in mountain biking, and outdoor activities in general, there are a lot of organizations in and around Seattle to help riders out.

Burke-Gilman Trail
If you spend any time in and around Seattle, you'll most likely cross the Burke-Gilman trail at least once. This is a nice trail that all sorts of people use. You've got people riding road bikes, rollerbladers, runners, walkers, etc. This trail connects different parts of the region and it is used as a commuter trail for a lot of people. It's a paved trail for the most part so it's not really suitable for mountain bikers looking for some obstacles to navigate through, but this can be one of those trails your kids might enjoy.

Don't miss out just 'cause you didn't bring you bike
Even if you're only going to be in town for a couple of days, you might get the itch to ride (if you're anything like me). Well, don't fret if you didn't bring your bike. As I mentioned earlier, there are a ton of friendly shops interested in getting people out riding, especially visitors from out of town who will go back home and brag to their friends about how good mountain biking is in Seattle. So really, there's no excuse. Get out there on your next trip to Seattle and maybe we'll cross each other on one of the trails.
