When The Sun Rises

A poem of future hope despite past failings...
When The Sun Rises
When the sun rises...
the darkness of my past begins to fade,
as I awake to face what's been displayed,
confronting the pains not yet obeyed,
from sorrows forgotten and delayed...
when the sun rises.

When the sun rises...
and all of my dreams become more clear,
while effigies of regret remain near,
alarming old senses of the tear
shed during times that were not so dear...
when the sun rises.

When the sun rises...
to a sharp chorus of singing birds,
that remind me of my stinging words,
to the shepherds and their herds,
held in place with solid steel girds…
When the sun rises…

When the sun rises…
and the stark light allows me to move ahead,
carrying the things I never should have said,
and breaking free from the chains I bled,
to a new found freedom that I’ve wed.
Let the sun rise!
