When the Night Comes
This is a love poem written by Lesiba Mabukela.
When the night comes,
I will hopefully stay by your side
And look into your wonderful eyes.
Though I have not a vehicle to ride,
I can walk that mile or so with my feet.
As soon as it is midday I will began my journey.
Verily I will be with you by the evening
And kiss your sweet lips like honey.
I will stay with you until the morning.
Spend the rest of the night with you.
As I tentatively touch you in the gloom.
Though eyes in the gloom don’t see,
I will feel your warmth like a beam,
So to hold you tightly in my arms
And cherish you intimately throughout the night.
Like a myrrh blossoms anew,
You will feel pleased when there’s sunlight.
