When Sparks Fly...Chapter 11
Well this is very…intimate... Hope you like and please comment! Love Phoebe Gardens.
*Hey everyone, I am eternally sorry it's taken me this long to post another chapter, I struggled to get writing it, so I hope it's ok! The pictures are of Brighton as some of you might not have a clue what and where I'm talking about!
I want to thank you all so much for commenting. I love it that some of you said this story puts you in a good mood, that means a lot that I can do that! So thanks! Also, you are all too sweet with your compliments and I truly am touched you all adore(love that word!) my stories enough to comment and that they touch you in some way, esp. making you butterflyish! What a lovely feeling!
Some responses to people's comments;
Me-I think it's funny you say I deserve someone like Caesar/Cameron/Zac, do I? Why? Yeah, well one day, I might let you all know if I find him! Haha, my real name, I don't see what you'll get out of knowing it! It's pretty normal! Lol! Curiosity is good though!
Anony Moose-haha, thanks. Well I have an idea, which is quite dramatic, so I think I'm on the right track, but thanks! I like that I'm convincing you I know what I'm doing!
Latoya-I doubt it very much, but thank you, sweetie!
Ciriat-I'd DIE if that happened to me, poor Tor! Thank goodness it was only Caesar who saw!
Christine Rain-ahh, do you think my personality shows through? Ooohh what do you think I am like? Do tell! I think you all probably do know quite a bit more about me than you think, a lot of my characters are based off what I'd do, like in this chapter, Tor is me with heights, I'm not a fan and hated walking on Brighton pier. There are snippets of me in there all the time, I just don't point them out to people, like I always wanted to be a Wedding Planner so I based Freya on that, all of my characters names I adore, the settings all relate to me and what I know and love etc, so maybe you're right!
Shweta-I hope you're ok! I hope my story is cheering you up! Best wishes.
Ms.T-I'd like to think I have a quick wit too so Caesar is pretty perfect for me too! Actually, any guy I've written about is perfect for me! Lol! Also, I never thought of that song-you're so right! Clever thinking! I'm singing it now! I'm glad you're enjoying it as a movie, wouldn't that be grand watching it! Lol!
SK-Oohh my real name! I don't know what you'll get out of knowing my first name though, lol! Haha, he is real, I believe he is out there somewhere waiting for me! Of course there are guys like Caesar out there, Caesar's not perfect so I live in hope! No, I don't. I only have my personal one, that's all which has my full name in. But no one would contact me anyway! Lol! Haha-I don't have gazillions of fans, but bless you anyway, you're a sweet fan.
Also, if I can say, there is this incredible story on buzzle called 'The Promise of Tomorrow'. It's just finished, but it is such a wonderful story and Mevvi is such an amazing writer and I think you will all enjoy it! A massive tear-jerker, but a story that has such an impact. I hope you like it as much as I did.
Ok, enough babbling, I'll let you read the chapter now! Lol! Please comment! They help bunches with me writing!*
---------------------------------------------------------------------
So that night, we go back up to our rooms to get changed to go out to The Pier. Lola decides to do my make up for me. She’s a pro and revels in beautifying people ‘You have such nice eyes, Tor. I bet Caesar likes staring into them.’ She says.
I grin and say ‘Oh shush.’
‘I think he likes you, Tor.’
‘Oh really? And why do you say that?’ I say sarcastically. Caesar wouldn’t like me in that way. I annoy him too much for him to be interested in me.
‘Actually, he’s very caring towards you, unbelievably so. I’ve never heard of a guy who would walk all the way back to find you in case you were lost. I’ve never known a guy to come to your flat to apologize for something that didn’t require an apology. I've never known of a guy to pay for your lunch and not want the money back. I think he really likes you to do that and a hell of a lot more.’
‘I don’t want to complicate it, though. It’s Caesar, you know.’
‘You’re a worrier, Tor. Like Caesar said, just ‘go wild’ with him. ‘You know you’ll have fun’.’
I smile as I think back to what he said ‘I don’t know. I’m a traditionalist and from now on, if a guy wants me he’s going to have to prove it to me and tell me, because I am not a love fool anymore.’
‘Em told me about your weekend together getting over Eddie. Well done, darling. That must have taken a lot.’
I grin ‘Thanks and that’s how it’s going to stay. If he likes me, he’ll make the first move, if he doesn’t he won’t. Simple as, we’ll just stay friends. I am not brooding over something that isn’t happening.’
‘Good for you, Tor, just make it a little obvious you like him, ok?’
After changing into something new, Lola and I meet the guys down at the pier. Ooohh I’m not very good with heights, even though we’re not that high up, the thought of being suspended petrifies me, especially out at sea.
‘Are you ok, Tor?’ Lola asks me as we stand at the entrance.
But before I can answer, Caesar and Damien turn up.
‘Hey gorgeous.’ Damien says kissing Lola.
Caesar grins and says ‘Come on, lovebirds.’ As the three of them walk ahead, I don’t move. I can’t.
Caesar looks back and says ‘Are you ok?’
He walks back over to me and he says ‘Are you cold, Victoria?’ Caesar only calls me Victoria if he is talking to others about me, wants my attention or is introducing someone to me. Otherwise, it’s still Chick.
‘Um, no, um, I just, I don’t like heights.’ I say looking back to the shore. Much better, dry land.
‘It’s ok, you won’t fall in. It’s a pretty strong structure.’
‘That doesn’t reassure me.’
‘Are you coming, guys?’ Lola calls out.
Caesar shakes his head and says ‘We’ll catch up with you.’
I look back at Caesar and he says ‘I use to be scared of pigeons.’
I can’t help it, when he tells me this, I start to laugh. Pigeons, honestly.
‘Oi, I’m trying to sympathise here.’
‘I hardly think being scared of heights and pigeons are the same thing. What has a pigeon ever done to you?’
‘Well what have heights ever done to you?’
‘Torture me with the thought of falling to my death.’
‘Oh you are melodramatic, Chick. You won’t die, you’d put up too much of a fight.’ He grins but I’m not impressed.
‘Are you still afraid of pigeons?’ I ask him trying to scare him. I wish one would suddenly appear and divebomb him.
‘No, I realized they weren’t out to get me and I kind of spent some time with them and ended up liking them.’
‘Spent some time with them? Weirdo.’ I tease.
‘Well at least I’m not scared anymore. Come on, I promise you, nothing will happen, and maybe after this you’ll want to go sky diving or something.’
‘I doubt it’
He stretches out his hand for me to hold. I smile as I take it and we start to walk down the pier together.
‘Chick, you are clinging on so tightly, will you loosen up a bit?’ He says as we start to walk up the pier.
‘But look how far away from land we are.’ I say worriedly.
He lets go of my hand and instead loops an arm around me ‘I’ve got you, ok? Don’t worry. Now, arcade or rides first?’
‘Arcade.’
‘Is that because it’s inside?’
I nod ‘Exactly that.’
Caesar laughs as we get some tokens to place the games with. ‘Are you any good at those clutchey things?’ I ask Caesar.
‘Why? Do you want me to win you something?’ He winks.
‘No, I want you to lose your money.’
‘Charming, well let’s see shall we. You go too. One go each.’
‘Fine, loser.’
We stand next to each other on individual machines. We slot our tokens in and then the game begins. Hmm, up, down, no I want to go left. Left. Left. ‘LEFT STUPID!’ I call out to the machine.
Caesar laughs at me, but then I grab one teddy, so who should be laughing now!
Right, slowly right, that’s it, and just as I get to the box the grasper drops my teddy back in with the others. ‘NOOOO!’
I hit the machine and grumble to then see Caesar holding a stuffed toy chicken. He is such a bastard rubbing it in my face like that. ‘For you.’ He says.
‘I don’t want your stupid chicken.’ I say huffing.
‘It’s a chicken for you, Chick.’
I shake my head and Caesar adds ‘You are such a sore loser, Chick.’
‘Am not.’
Caesar rolls his eyes and says ‘Shall we go on the penny machines?’
Oh no. I have lost way too much money with them over the years, but it’s so addictive. Watching them drop in, pushing the other pennies aside but you never make a profit. Never.
I watch Caesar drop a penny then say ‘Oh you fool!’
‘What?’ He asks worriedly.
‘Now you can never pull away!’
I watch the penny join the other ones and sigh ‘See, now you have to get it back again.’
‘It’s a penny, Chick.’
‘Yes and you lost it.’
‘I think we should go on the rides before the arcade games annoys you anymore.’ He says moving me away from the machines.
‘It does not annoy me.’ I say surely.
He looks at me and says ‘Right, sure.’
We walk out of the arcade and I instantly grab Caesar’s arm. Don’t look down. Don’t look down. I bury my head into Caesar’s shoulder and say ‘I don’t like this.’
‘Walk on the inside and look straight ahead. I promise you, you aren’t going to fall to your death.’
‘Don’t make promises you can’t keep.’ I warn.
‘Come on, let’s go on some rides. What about that?’ Caesar points to a ride which has rocket like seats which spin up in the air, bobbing up and down.
‘Are you a fan of rides?’ He asks.
‘Um, of small ones.’
He smiles ‘Well that’s not big so we’ll go on that one.’ Caesar leads me over to the queue and as we wait in line, he says ‘I used to come down here at least once a week before uni with Mac.’
‘How long have you two been friends for?’
‘Since we were 11.’
‘You seem like really good friends. He’s a nice guy.’
He nods ‘Yeah.’
‘Tokens please.’ The man says as we approach the front of the queue.
Caesar hands him our tokens and says ‘Shall we share a rocket?’
‘Oh go on then.’ I say following him. Caesar steps in first and slides to the back. I then sit in and see that we really are squashed together quite close. I’m in between his legs so we’re really close.
‘Well this is very…intimate.’ He whispers into my ear, I think grinning.
I laugh and I hold onto the bars as the ride starts to move. ‘Are you a screamer?’ He asks.
I nod and then the screams begin. The ride goes so fast that I don’t stop screaming until the ride finishes. I turn around giggling and see Caesar’s not amused ‘Deafen me, why don’t you?’
I bite my lip and say ‘Was I really that bad?’
He nods and I pout my bottom lip ‘Sorry.’
I get out of the rocket and he still looks angry ‘I didn’t mean to scream that loud.’
He slides out of the rocket and shakes his head ‘Did you have fun?’
I nod.
‘Then I don’t care.’
I see his eyes twinkle in the moonlight and I smile as I give him a hug ‘Thanks.’ I whisper.
After a few more rides, we decide to walk along the sea front before going back to the hotel. ‘So who are we meeting tomorrow?’ I ask.
‘My mum, Ashlee and Hope.’
‘Not your dad?’
He shakes his head ‘No.’
‘Why not?’
‘I don’t see my dad anymore.’
‘Are your parents divorced?’ I ask cautiously.
He nods ‘Yeah.’
‘When?’
‘When I was 10.’
‘I’m sorry.’ Is all can say.
He nods then ends that conversation there. ‘Have you had fun today?’ He asks looking down at me.
‘I have, from the talks to this, it’s been a pretty great day.’ I say beaming. It really has. I’ve not been this care-free in a long time and I have had so much fun with Caesar.
He smiles ‘Good.’
I look out to see and stop and just watch the mesmerizing waves pull in and out. I smile and say ‘What are your dreams in life, Caesar?’
‘Why do you ask?’
‘I just want to know.’
He pauses before saying ‘Um, well I’ve always wanted to play in a band, that would be my dream, you know, playing the guitar, singing, touring and stuff, song writing and performing-that would be my dream, anything musical based.’
‘So nothing to do with English?’
He smiles ‘Nah, I do love English and it’s good to have a degree to fall back on and I can do a lot with it, because dreams rarely come true, Chick.’
‘They can do. You just have to believe in yourself.’
‘Mmm, whatever. What about you? What are your dreams?’
‘Oh, I don’t know.’
‘Go on, tell me.’
I look up at Caesar, then ahead again ‘I want to work for a magazine as an editor or a columnist. Anything writing based is my passion.’
He grins ‘You’ll do that easy.’
‘I hope so. See, you should believe in yourself more, you’ll be more determined to achieve then.’ I say nudging him.
Caesar shrugs and sees that I’m yawning and says ‘We should be getting back.’
I agree and follow Caesar back to our hotel. After walking up three flights of stairs, Caesar walks me to my room down the dim-lit hallway. ‘Thanks for today, Caesar.’ I say to him. I reach my hand up and push his curls off his face and smile ‘I’ve not had that much fun in a long time.’
‘You’re welcome, Chick.’ He hands me the stuffed toy chicken and I laugh ‘Is that so it can stare me in the face reminding me of the fact that I lost.’
‘Of course.’ He beams.
‘Right, well night Caesar.’
Caesar pauses before opening his arms for a hug. Thank goodness, I’ve wanted another one of his hugs. I slot into his arms flawlessly and tell him ‘You give really good hugs.’
‘What’s a good hug made up of then?’ He asks.
I smile as I tell him ‘Well you hold me firmly and link your arms around my waist perfectly. You sometimes rub my back which is so soothing and when you rest your head on top of mine, it reminds me of how my family hug me. They all do that because I’m that much shorter than them.’
Caesar rests his head on top of mine and I sigh in happiness. He does give good hugs.
‘That means a lot, Chick.’ He rubs my back and I grin.
‘Now you’re doing it on purpose.’
He pulls away and smirks ‘Maybe a little bit, but I didn’t know that before.’ We’re only half a meter away from each other and Caesar leans across and touches my face gently. Oh God, is he going to kiss me?
Caesar then puts his finger close to my mouth and says ‘Make a wish, Chick.’
I look down and see an eyelash and laugh. Stupid me. I close my eyes and make a wish as I blow the eyelash away and Caesar smiles ‘I should go. Night night, Chick. Sleep tight.’
I watch Caesar leave my hotel room door and gaze at him as he walks down to the other end of the hall ‘Night, Caesar.’
I wonder if my wish will come true…
