When Sparks Fly...Chapter 10
Go wild with me, Chick. You know you’ll have fun...It's the Brighton Trip! Hope you enjoy...! Love Phoebe
*Hey everyone, thanks so much for all your lovely comments once again, I'm loving your support. I'm so glad so many of you are enjoying it and are loving Caesar-lol! ANd of course the lovely Tor!
All of you never fail to make me smile and inspire me to write quicker and edit faster with your comments! Lol! Keep them coming! I love hearing your reactions like screaming out in excitement, or laughing, makes me think I'm doing the right thing!
Laura-Beth-haha, ahh, I never say poppet. Like never! I say sweetie, but never poppet. Not a very English word, but I quite like to use it!
SK-haha, oohhh my real name! I don't see what you'll get out of knowing it! Lol! It's quite normal! I don't know, see my only worry is people finding out I write all this stuff because no one knows I write and then for them to criticise it and then see me again would be awkward. I might tell you my first name later on, but that really is all your getting! Oh and London is not good at the moment, I'm dying for some proper sun but there's nothing!
Lauren-maybe at some point!
Samantha Brooke-ooh another pseudo user! Thanks! I quite enjoyed making it up!
Sam-you have exactly the same guilty pleasures and weakness as me! Lol! Love curly hair!
Angela-that part about Emily and Hayden was literally so easy to write because that's what I want out of love! Tor is me in some places and I just think those small little things are what love is all about. Especially when your face lights up to know they are thinking of you! I'm a bit of a romantic so that part was quite easy to write! lol! Glad you feel the same way! And thanks for your wonderful comment too.
Picture is of the pair of them. And you will find out in the next chapter or two what Caesar's real name is, I've already told you his surname-Matthews, but his first name will be revealed soon.
Also, I'd like to tell you, I hope you don't mind drama because this story, if it goes like I'm planning, will have a lot of it. It won't be purely romance, but things that affect romance and life, if that makes sense. But anyway, hope you like...
---------------------------------
Today is the day of the Brighton. It came around pretty quickly actually. It’s been over a month since we found out we were going.
‘I’m going to miss you.’ Emily says as I drag my suitcase down the hall.
‘Don’t be silly. I’m sure Hayden will keep you busy.’ Innuendo intended.
She cocks her head disapprovingly and says ‘I packed some things in your bag. Just in case.’
‘In case of what?’
‘Look later.’ She pulls me in for a hug and kisses my cheek. ‘Have fun, Tor.’
‘I’ll try.’ I really have to try because a weekend in Brighton without Emily will be hard. I hate being away from her. She’s the best friend anyone could wish for. But suck it up, Tor!
I arrive at the coach and seem a little late, well late for me. Debbie is busy chatting away to the other lectures when I tell her I’m here.
‘Morning, love. Get on the coach then.’ She smiles and lets me on. I look for Lola and see her waving at me. I walk down the aisle and see she’s next to her boyfriend Damien. They’re cute together too. Lola’s lovely and Damien’s just a great all-around guy.
‘Hey Tor, do you mind sitting next to Caesar? I’ll only be here.’ Lola says. She winks and I feel she may have been speaking to Emily. I’m thinking this was just a little bit planned. I look to my right and Caesar is by the window, half asleep with his iPod in.
‘I don’t think Caesar wants me to sit next to him.’ I say trying to hide my friends’ obsessive set up.
Emily (and now Lola) has not stopped bugging me ever since I said I liked him. It’s not a big deal, but she sees it as a major development, since me getting over Eddie, and has tried every attempt to get Caesar alone with me.
Caesar hasn’t caught on to her desperate attempts of setting us up though, thank goodness. I’m in no way ready to start dating him; he still annoys the hell out of me, unbelievably so, even if I do like him as a bit, only a little, bit more than a friend.
But Emily says that’s what’s supposed to happen at the beginning of relationships.
Sparks fly, apparently.
But back to now, Caesar obviously hears this and says ‘What a way to hurt a man’s pride, Chick.’
I look at him and can’t help but smile ‘Fine. I’ll sit here.’
I sit down and start trying to put my seat belt in, but I can’t do it. I look like I right incompetent idiot, stabbing away with this stupid seat belt. Caesar laughs and says ‘God, please tell me I’m not going to have to mother you the whole weekend.’
I look up at him crossly and say ‘Oh be quiet. Just because I can’t do my bloody seat belt up doesn’t me you’re going to have to look after me, regardless of how much I know you want to.’
Caesar rolls his eyes and says ‘Whatever, Chick.’
I grin at my success and sit down, opening my bag. Right, I pull my glossy magazine out of my very tightly packet bag to read, but then out flies with it a set of three small, blue, square packages onto Caesar’s lap.
Oh no. Please tell me they aren’t what I think they are.
Please say that didn’t happen.
I actually might die.
I am going to kill Emily.
Caesar looks up at my blushing face and I will punch him if he says anything. ‘Planning to get laid, are you, Chick?’ He says, smiling.
I can’t even look at him.
Kill me. Kill me. Kill me.
Now he thinks I’m a whore. And I’m really not. I mean really, I’ve not even gone that far and do not intend to until I’m with the right guy. I’ve barely even kissed a guy. But now he’s going to think otherwise.
Well bloody done, Emily.
I don’t even want to pick them up.
Caesar must have realised how pissed off I am as he picks them up and puts them back in my bag for me.
I bury my head in my bag and hear him chuckle ‘It’s ok, Chick.’
‘You don’t understand, I didn’t put them there.’
‘Mmm, sure.’ He says smirking.
‘No, I didn’t!’
‘Chick, I don’t care.’ He tells me.
‘But I’m not like that!’ I insist in high tones.
Caesar turns my head to face his, gently holding my chin in his hands, then says directly into my eyes ‘I don’t care. I believe you, ok?’
I bite the right side of my lip anxiously and he smiles. ‘I don’t care.’
‘Don’t hold it against me.’ I beg sorrowfully.
He thinks on this says ‘Only for a while, then I’ll let it slide.’
‘You so won’t.’
He grins ‘You know me so well!’
The coach then takes off and Caesar puts his iPod back in and I sigh. What a horrible way start to the weekend trip.
*
‘Chick, Chick, hello Victoria?’ Someone says.
My eyes slowly open to see Caesar staring down at me.
‘We’re here.’ He tells me.
I close my eyes and turn away from him. I’m still tired.
Caesar nudges me and says ‘Get up, lazy.’
I open my eyes and look fiercely at him ‘Alright, eager beaver. God, it’s not like you to rush to a lesson.’
He just looks at me, glaring and says ‘Come on, Chick or the bus is going to take you with them.’
I undo my seat belt and stand up grabbing my bag. I stumble down the steep coach stairs angrily and walk out of the coach and look out to the sea.
Now I’m relaxed. What a beautiful sight. I take in a deep breath of the salty, fresh sea air and smile.
‘You like my hometown?’ Caesar says from behind.
I nod ‘It’s beautiful.’ Especially as we’re down here so early. The beach is empty and there is barely any cars moving along the roads.
‘Ok everyone,’ Debbie says at the front of our coach ‘When I call your names out, come and get your key and a set of directions and then after putting your suitcases in your rooms, you can make your way to the lecture where you’ll be having the talks, activities and workshops. Ok?’
She starts to call the names out as we collect out bags from the coach. I packed a little too much, I think, since I’m struggling to drag the stupid thing.
‘Baby, can you carry my suitcase up for me?’ Lola says after grabbing our key to Damien. She over packed too.
Damien agrees and Lola says ‘Hey Tor, why don’t you get your Caesar to carry your bags up for you?’
She grins and I say ‘He is not my Caesar.’
‘No way, I am.’ He says. ‘But give it here; we might get there a bit quicker.’ He takes my suitcase and follows Lola up to our room.
As we open our room, Lola and I cringe and I think we both gasp in horror. It’s awful; two crummy, little beds and a pathetic excuse for a window that overlooks a car park.
Caesar and Damien laugh at our misfortune, but Lola and I are not impressed. We quickly go to the guys’ room and see they must have got the long straw looking at their perfect view overlooking the sea and decent sized beds and everything working.
‘I might join you in here.’ Lola tells Damien.
I might to considering the state our room is in.
‘Come on, we need to get to the conference.’ I tell them all.
‘Yeah, come on guys, we don’t want Victoria to be late.’ He says rolling his eyes. ‘Chill out, I know a short cut.’
‘Oh no, I am going by the directions I was given. I am not getting lost. Are you coming Lo?’
‘Um, we’ll meet you there later.’ She says wrapping her arms around Damien.
Caesar and I walk down together and he says ‘Come my way, we’ll get there a lot quicker.’
‘No, Caesar. I’m…’
‘Playing by the rules, yeah I know, like always. Well I’ll see you there if you’re not following me.’
Caesar walks off in the opposite direction and I call out. ‘I’ll beat you there.’
He turns around and says ‘No, you won’t, Chick.’ With a grin.
I take out my directions and quickly read through them. Hmm, right, down this street, oh maybe it’s that street. No it’s that one. Right, let’s go…
I am so lost. I’ve been walking up these same cobbley streets for a while now and I don’t know where I am. I manage to make my way back out onto the sea shore back to where I started and sit on a bench with my instructions. I am so stuffed and I am going to miss the conference that I really wanted to see. Why me?
‘It’s a good job I knew what way you were going.’ I hear Caesar say. I look up from my wrinkled map and instantly walk into his arms.
Caesar wraps his arms around me and rests his head on top of mine. ‘You ok?’
‘I got lost.’ I tell him. ‘I think I took a wrong turning, well I think I took every wrong turning and…’
He looks down at me and chuckles ‘Come on, we’ll get there if we speed walk, but we’re taking my short cut.’
I nod and say ‘Will we get there in time?’
‘Yeah, of course.’ He takes my hand in his and chucks the map in the bin. ‘You are useless with directions.’
I look at him and say hopelessly ‘Thanks for finding me.’
‘It’s ok, you poor lost soul.’
When we get there, which we arrive on time to, I realise we’re still holding hands. I let go gently and Caesar looks at me laughs ‘Clammy hands.’
‘Oh shut up.’
‘Hey! I found you.’
‘Rub it in, then.’
He smiles and sits down and I sit next to him. I take out a notebook and start note-taking while Caesar just sits back and listens, lazy git.
At the end of the conference, I am so overwhelmed and amazed by their talk; I give them a standing ovation. Everyone looks at me like a mad woman, but I don’t care, I learnt so much. Caesar then stands up too and claps ‘Did you enjoy that, Chick?’ He asks.
I nod enthusiastically. ‘Thanks for getting me here.’
‘No probs.’
We break for lunch and Caesar and I go off to his favourite fish and chip shop in Brighton. I’m taking his lead from now on. He’s from here and I am not butting in, he can take me wherever, I know I’m safe with him.
‘Did you grow up here then?’ I ask him as I tuck into my chips on the sea-front.
‘I did.’
‘And your family still live here?’
He nods.
‘When are you seeing them?’
‘Tomorrow.’
‘Can I come?’
He looks at me and eats a chip ‘Why?’
‘Why not?’ I smile. ‘I want to see the people who put up with you for 18 years.’
Caesar’s jaw drops as he says ‘Put up with!’
I laugh ‘I’m joking.’
‘Good.’ He smiles ‘Well if you want to, of course you can.’
‘Great.’
As I finish off my meal, Caesar’s camera flashes and he’s taken a picture of me ‘If I am eating, delete it.’
‘You’re not; you’re gazing off into the sea. It’s a nice picture.’
‘I don’t believe you.’ I don’t take good pictures.
‘I’m keeping it.’
‘Delete it.’ I caution with serious eyes.
Caesar leans closer and says ‘Make me.’
‘Fine.’ I move my leftovers out the way and sit on his lap to restrain him so I can grab his camera from his hands.
‘Give me the camera.’
Caesar leans back laughing and shakes his head and with his right arm, he secures it around my waist and picks me up, holding me tightly against his body.
‘CAESAR!’ I say giggling as he spins me around
‘You’re too light, silly.’ He says giggling.
‘Please delete it.’ I bargain, still trying to grab the camera.
‘Make me.’ He teases.
‘Well I tired…’
‘But failed.’ He grins.
‘Well you can put me down then if you won’t delete it.’
‘Are you sure you want to?’ He says in a low voice.
‘Yes.’
‘Well let your feet from around my waist and you can go.’ Oh right. I am clinging on around his waist.
So I do and he laughs. ‘Come on, we should get back for the next lecture.’
On the way back, we start to talk about Emily.
‘Ah she’s so good to me. I do love her, beyond words.’
‘She’s a nice girl. Em and Hayden make a great couple.’
I smile thinking of them both. ‘Yeah, they’ve been together since they were 16 and then came here together. They’re pretty strong together. I wish I could have a relationship like theirs.’
He smiles ‘I think everyone would.’
‘Do you?’ I say in surprise.
He nods ‘Yeah, even though I don’t agree with marriage, I’d like to have a good relationship with someone.’
I grin and I shouldn’t be. Caesar sees this and smiles.
Oh no. I can feel I’m blushing now.
When we make it to the lecture, I see Lola waving us down. When we finally sit down with Lola and Damien, after waiting behind stupid people, Lola says ‘Tonight we’re going to the arcade on the Pier, do you two want to come?’
‘I’m up for it.’ Caesar says.
They all look at me as I say ‘Oh, I don’t know.’ I’m not really one for going out at night, especially on a trip, even though we’re allowed to.
Caesar nudges me and says ‘Come on. Go wild with me, Chick. You know you’ll have fun.’
He gives me such a sexy smile that I just cannot refuse his offer ‘Ok. I’ll come.’ I say grinning.
