‘What?’ I whispered, my eyes wide as my head spun.

He gave a small smile, that smile that was just for me, and said, ‘I’m in love with you. I love you. Didn’t you know that?’

I slowly shook my head, and he pulled me into him and buried his face in my chest, and it may have been childish of me, but I was hyperaware of his chin resting on my breasts.

‘Well, I do,’ he murmured into my skin, while I stroked his hair. ‘I love you so much.’

My heart filled with so much joy I was sure it would burst. ‘I love you, too.’ I whispered.

And it was true. It was now clear to me that those feelings I had for him, the feelings that I had been battling with, was actually love. And I loved it and was scared of it at the same time.

He straightened up and looked me dead in the eye, his face only millimeters from mine. ‘Really? You love me? You…you mean that?’

I smiled and nodded. ‘I mean it,’ I paused, then added, ‘I’m scared of how much I love you.’

He leaned in to me and kissed me, and I clutched at his hair while he moved his lip expertly against mine. ‘Don’t be scared of it,’ he whispered against my lips. ‘Never be scared of it.’

-------------------
After we had finished kissing, (which was quite a while later) we sat opposite each other with crossed legs like before, with my hands in Mateo’s, while he traced the different patterns on my palm with the ends of his index fingers.

‘Are you still going to be friends with Dan?’ Mateo suddenly demanded, breaking the peaceful silence we had created.

I blinked. ‘Why?’ I knew I sounded suspicious.

‘I don’t like him,’

I rolled my eyes and tutted. ‘You’re not going to be one of those really possessive boyfriends’s that tries to control who I can and can’t see, are you?’

He growled, the sound deep, coming from within his throat. ‘Of course I am. It’s in my nature,’ He leaned forward to my ear and whispered, ‘I am an Aloysius, after all,’ which was true, because the male species in both mine and Mateo’s coven were well known for male dominance, possessiveness.

I still refused to back down. ‘You just don’t like the fact that Dan likes me more than a friend,’

‘He’ll never have you the way I do,’

I grinned and put my arms around his neck. ‘Of course not, my little Matt,’

He snorted. ‘Little? Little?’ A sudden wicked glint sparkled in his eyes, and he lunged at me, toppling me back onto the floor with him on top of me. ‘I think it’s time to show you who’s boss,’

I giggled and kissed his neck, marveling at the fact that I knew this would have never happened had it been years earlier. ‘I’m still going to be friends with Dan,’ I stuck my tongue out, just for good measure.

He growled again. ‘No.’

‘Yes.’

‘No.’

‘No,’

‘Yes,’ he realized that I had tricked him and pouted.

I stroked his lips with my thumb, and then leaned in to kiss him again. ‘Don’t be spoilt,’ I whispered against his lips.

‘I can’t help it. I always get what I want.’

I rolled my eyes. ‘Spoil brat,’

He leaned into my neck and whispered into my ear in such a sultry voice it made my toes curl, ‘I got you, too, didn’t I? I wanted you and I got you,’

I frowned, and tried to steady my breathing which was beating like a hammer. ‘You only wanted to be my friend at first,’

It was his turn to rolls his eyes, ‘Kaia, are you blind? Couldn’t you see that I wanted to jump you the first moment I saw you? Even though I knew what you were?’

I remembered the first day we had met, after I had just found out precisely what he was, when he pulled me back when I had tried to storm away, and whispered into my ear, ‘I’ll be watching you,’ and there was something in his voice, something that I couldn’t place. I knew now that it had been lust.

‘Well, I was always attracted to you,’ I informed him.

He grinned at me, that mischievous grin that made him look young and boyish. ‘Well aside from the fact that I’ve been in your thoughts,’ I glared at him. ‘It was also to do with how you looked at me. And how you trembled - and still do - when I touched you, and-’

‘I do not trembled when you touch me!’ I exclaimed.

‘Oh yeah?’ Mateo challenged, one eyebrow cocked. Before I knew what he was doing, he had reached out both of his arms and held onto either side of my waist, and, sure enough, my whole body started to shake. I tired in vain to control myself, but his touch did strange things to my body. ‘See?’ he said smugly, still holding onto me.

I scowled at him, and a sudden flash of memory passed through my mind. ‘Hey Matt?’

‘Mmhmm?’ he had brought his face closer to me, and was occupying himself with my neck, nibbling on the skin there. It felt really, really good, and I gasped every time he hit my soft spot.

‘You know that-‘ gasp ‘Thing you did to me when-‘ louder gasp ‘You forced me out of the library and-‘ moan ‘it warmed my muscles and made me feel-‘ louder moan ‘Really, really good?’

He finally lifted his face from my neck, and gave me a slow smile, knowing that he could get to me easily. And then he took in what I had said, and he raised an eyebrow, ‘Yes?’

‘Well,’ I said. ‘What was that thing that you did to me?’ It had felt amazing, that thing he had did to me, like someone had warmed my muscles all over and made me turn to jelly.

‘You mean Heater Charm?’ he said,

I shrugged. ‘I don’t know. I’ve never heard of it before. All I know is that it felt amazing.’

He grinned again. ‘Really? Maybe I could teach you the charm,’

My face lit up. ‘Really?’

‘Yes, but only if you do one thing for me,’

‘What?’

‘Kiss me,’

I smiled and leaned into him, teasing him at first by planting small butterfly kisses onto his lips, breaking away everytime he tried to deepen the kiss. Then, with a low growl erupting from his chest as a split-second warning, he grabbed me and buried his mouth in mine.
--------------------------
I was sitting between Mateo’s long legs, my back leaning against his chest, while we both led out our arms, and his hands were cupping mine, palm up.

‘Clear your head,’ he murmured into my ear, adopting the same soothing voice had used just before he had broken into my mind. ‘And close your eyes. Imagine that big gust of wind, picking everything in your mind and up and blowing it away, leaving you with no thoughts left,’

I did as he said, and the result felt surprisingly calm. ‘Now imagine fire,’ he said, his voice a little lower then before. ‘Think of a big, flaming mass of fire, starting inside you,’ he pressed his hands into my chest, the pressure weighing down on me. ‘And making its way out,’ the pressure lessened.

And I felt myself burning up, as soon as I had obliged to his words. I was warming, my body temperature getting higher and higher, and Mateo gasped, and I guessed that the magic he had worked on me was now working on him. I smiled; it felt good to be in control.

I broke my concentration and turned around to face him. ‘Did I do Okay?’ I asked, bouncing up and down like a hyped-up bunny. ‘Did I?’

He grinned at me, and leaned forward to peck me on the cheek. ‘You did great.’

I giggled. ‘Really?’

He nodded. ‘Really.’
----------------------------
After wards, we went swimming.

I’m not even joking. There was a small – but definitely more than big enough for two – lake, just on the border of the beautiful forest Mateo had taken me to.

‘But I didn’t bring a bathing suit with me,’ I said, when Mateo had first showed me the small lake.

His gaze burned right through me. ‘I know,’

And then he was stripping off his shirt and throwing it to the ground, and unzipping the fly of his jeans and sliding them over his hips and down his legs until they lay in a crumpled heap on the leave-covered ground.

I could only gawp at him. I had never ever seen Mateo is full bare glory, but I had imagined it, but it was nothing, nothing to reality. His chest looked every bit as hard and muscled as one of those wrestling pro’s I saw on television, and his legs were long and lean, built powerfully like a horse.

He gazed at me with hooded lids, naked except from the dark grey boxers that covered his middle. I stared at him as he turned from me and walked with a languid elegance to the edge of the lake, held up his hands above his head as if he was reaching for something, then turned and flipped into the cool water, not even making that much of a splash, just imparting the water.

He came up and shook out his head, water beading onto his hair and flying out from the sudden movement. He just looked at me, waiting.

My self-conscious surfaced into a whole new level, until I wanted to turn and run away, but forced myself to unbutton my shirt, and then shrugged it off. Mateo growled, the sound purely animal, hungry. I hesitated when it came to unzipping the fly of my jeans, but reminded myself of how this was just how it would be like if I were in a normal bikini, and slowly shimmied out of my trousers. His growl got deeper. My underwear and bra was an aqua blue, lacy and barely existent.

I sat on the edge of the lake, and slowly lowered myself into the water, vaguely surprised at its warmness. Mateo slowly edged towards me, the water rippling as he moved, until he was just inches away from me. I trembled as he held out his hands and took me in his arms, but I barely had time to marvel at the rightness of how it felt to be in his embrace, before he had lifted me up slightly, until my chest was level with his face. He leaned forward and kissed the valley between my breasts, and my trembling increased.

He lowered me so that we were face to face again, and l leaned into him, needing to feel his lips on mine. He met me halfway, and his mouth tasted wet of water, of salt, of nature. It tasted good. Then he was pulling me into his, hugging me and running his hands through my partially wet hair, while his eyes roamed my body.

‘I love you,’ he whispered into my ear.

I looked him dead in the eye. ‘I love you, too,’

And at that moment, it was all we needed,
