When Forest Drums Beat

A woman ravaged. Wrote this in '94. The painting is by Jean Jacques Henner.
When forest drums beat
Dum-dum-dum
A woman screams;
She's been outran.

Grabbed and chained
To be dragged
And later claimed --
She struggled.

But they were strong
And she was brought
Down the ground
To be ravaged.

She will be alone
When the revelry's done
After the forest drums beat
Dum-dum-dum.
