When Everything Fades to Black Pt. 3
Sorry guys, the story's getting off to a slow start. Bear with me, please. Thanks. <3
The ride to school was quiet and tense. Tryst wasn't sure how Javan felt on the matter, but she was worried about the outcome of her mother and father's relationship. It was always a rocky one, but Tryst never meant to make things worse with the issue of the sleeping pills. All things considered, she really didn't feel up to going to school today. "Dad." She finally voiced, only a few blocks away from campus. "Can I skip today? I don't feel good."
From the back seat, Tryst saw Mr.s Redgrave's eye's flicker up in the rear view mirror. "Please?" She voiced while her dad remained quiet. His calculating stare faltered back to the road. Tryst read his frustrated exhale as a 'no.' Whence she nodded in understanding to.
"I just think it's safer for you here. Surrounding yourselves with people is the best thing right now, sweetie. I'm sorry." Her dad didn't look back at her when he spoke. Tryst could see the strife in his brow line. "And what about you?" Tryst's eyes looked like a sad puppy dog's. "Don't worry about me poppet. It's not your job. I'll be fine." Her dad looked at Javan, who was in the front seat with him. "And what about you...can you see or hear unusual things like Tryst and I?"
Tryst saw Javan shifting in his chair a bit. He poked his head 'round back to glance at her, then their dad. The quizzical gaze said a lot. "You're lucky." Tryst added. Although Javan had not answered them vocally, Tryst's twin intuition and commonsense told her that the hunch was right, and her brother was indeed, not plagued with the paranormal sense which she, her father, and his father before him were given. "We'll have a talk...later." Mr. Redgrave assured. Giving his son a comforting squeeze to his shoulder.
