When Death Comes

A poem I wrote after my good friend AJ passed away on September 11th.
Death comes like a stray cat.
You never know when it will show up.
Begging for food, or for attention.

Death comes like a storm.
There is no controlling it.
It can cause minor or major damage.

Death comes like an ocean wave.
It knocks you down and doesn't let you get up without a struggle.

Death comes like tears of sorrow.
It hurts and breaks hearts of other people.

Death just comes.
On its own.

Dedicated to my good friend AJ Marquardt.
