When Christian Lights Go Out

People make some of their greatest mistakes during those times when wisdom takes a break. And, spiritually, problems begin when Christian lights go out. Then, if one is fortunate enough to successfully survive the calamity, it suddenly becomes easy to see exactly where you went wrong. This is called hindsight. The reason why hindsight lets you see things so clearly in retrospect is that, after events have already transpired, it is far less difficult to actually THINK!

Thinking is really the exact opposite of assuming. That is, with true THOUGHT, especially of an intellectual and spiritual nature, correct actions and behaviors vividly appear and APPEAL to the heart, mind, and soul. Of course, when Christian lights go out, none of the above is happening.

In our current society, there is an adage, cliché, or saying that sounds something like this... "EYES WIDE SHUT." Meaning, within interpersonal interactions or social encounters, you may actually notice with your eyes the people and things surrounding you. However, you still fail to assess or consciously evaluate the inner circumstances or likely consequences, plus consciously devise and decide upon appropriate behavior or the most effective action.

When Christian lights go out, troubles begin.

Further, when a person uses the phrase I THOUGHT, it usually means the same thing as I ASSUMED. And, if you agree that these two words are really opposites, then you know that troubles are likely to occur as a major outcome of assumptions made without deeper communication, and love, as well.

So, exactly what happens during those uncertain times? Here are some good examples of the kinds of mistakes we make when Christian lights go out:

1) Slipping into jealous or envious feelings about what our friends, neighbors, or relatives have accomplished... rather than giving them support, praise, and encouragement.

2) Focusing on being THE WINNER in every conversation, discussion, or debate about important issues that affect our home life, marriage, or social environment.

3) Overly enjoying the myriads of available pleasures that constantly present themselves to us within a highly materialistic marketplace.

When Christian lights go out, we succumb, or fall prey to simple things that used to be no challenge for us at all, while we wore the protective clothing of God's words and principles. During such periods of temporary blindness and vulnerability, we do things that even make us feel a little bit stupid for having tried them. This feeling only comes from the true revelation, after the fact, that we have temporarily abandoned sincere Christian behavior.

What solutions are available while Christian lights are off? Almost none, except your inner faith, and perhaps the slighter bits of wisdom that you have stored throughout the years. Nonetheless, this becomes the time when you find out what you are truly made of...

Now consider this... there is one answer to the problem that is always available to you. That is, turn on your Godly lights again.

How unfortunate it is that we cannot seem to simply keep them on at all times, regardless of whether we foresee danger or not. Nonetheless, the deeper wisdom that is inside and imbedded within our souls can act as an apprentice or helper during those dimly lit times.

There is an answer when you search within your soul. Perhaps it is time once again, to deeply close your eyes and truly think... what am I doing, where am I going, and why. When Christian lights go out... there is little occasion to do the above. So, do it now, while you have an advantage and the upper hand in understanding your Godly direction.

For, being Christian without realization is like using a rowboat to sail a stormy sea in the dark of night.

In other words, there is bound to be an unfortunate occurrence or outcome from such an action without forethought plus preparation.
