When Batgirls Go Bad - Part 2

White Pearl's newest adventure.
Oh my. Where was I?

When I came to my senses, I learned I was in a dark place and after listening I decided that whoever had knocked me out, they were no longer around. But they had left me bound. Bound at the ankles and my wrists tied behind me.

Great. A not unusual situation for a crime fighter, so I wasn't all that perturbed. Heaven knows it seemed to happen to me often enough. And I was just starting out in the field!

How long had it been since I was jumped in front of Wayne Manor? I had no way of knowing. I could have been knocked out for hours for all I knew. Mom's shift was for 12 hours, so I thought I had time to free myself and get home before she found me missing. She always became frantic when I turned up missing despite how time and again I explained that it would not be unusual. After all, as 'The White Pearl' it was going to happen. It was the price a girl has to pay when she serves truth and justice.

So I started struggling against the bounds. It turned out that my captor, or captors, might have a world-class knockout punch, but they were less than world-class at tying a person up. In no time I had my hands wiggled free and was undoing the ropes around my ankles.

Problem was that during the struggle to free myself I popped the hooks of my bra. Now I had to get home before mom saw that! That's the kinda thing that could get me grounded. Mom has no tolerance for wardrobe malfunctions.

What was important was not that I was kidnapped, tied up and left defenseless by persons unknown. What was important was that I reach home before Mom's shift was over and the wardrobe damage was repaired.

That, I'm glad to report, I made it home before Mom discovered what happened.

The following day in school at Blair High I found Cindy Gordon, aka as Young Batgirl, in the Commons. Cindy is my hero and my best friend on top of that. She was sitting at a table looking as pretty as ever. She was wearing a white, cotton sweater, a green, yellow, red short plaid skirt, black Mary Janes and white sweat socks. Her Auburn hair, normally shoulder length, was tied up in a pony-tail.

Cindy's hazel eyes followed me as I approached. A few times she glanced first left, then right, as if... as if she was searching for an escape route. But she smiled brightly as I piled my books on the table. "Hi bud."

"Hi Cin," I replied as I sat down.

"What's new?" Cindy asked in a monotone voice.

"Kidnapped. I was kidnapped and left in an abandoned warehouse. Kidnapped right in front of Wayne Manor. Do you know anything about that?"

Cindy shrugged. "Nope. Why should I?"

"Because you called last night and said you needed me there. Pronto. But when I got there I was ambushed."

"What!! Ambushed. By who? And you say I called last night?"

"First of all I don't know who it was. They knocked me out before I could see them. Whoever it was, knew you had called me and were waiting for me."

"Well Kelli it wasn't me who called you. I was in all night. So was Barbara," Cindy added. "She can vouch for me. As you know Bruce, Dick and Alfred are in Europe, so it was just Barb and me home last night."

"Well someone did a good job of pretending to be you. I could have sworn it was you on the phone."

Cindy reached over and squeezed my hand. "Kelli, it wasn't me. Would I lie to you?"
