What's the Connection Between Mallorca Property for Sale and Beatles for Sale?

How do you get to Mallorca property For Sale from the 'Beatles For sale'. To be perfectly candid, their connection might seem tenuous, unless you believe on a very broad scale in cultural momentum and transference.. but stick with me and I'll evidence (in my opinion), how the Beatles, who's own real estate gave more than a 'nod and a wink' to the progressive prosperity of the 60's are somehow interwoven in our search for an idyllic lifestyle.
What's the Connection Between Mallorca Property for Sale and Beatles for Sale?
The 1960's not only saw much greater freedom of speech and expression through fashion and music, it also mothered or fathered you might argue, the concept of tourism - Mallorca, which until this time had graduated from an agricultural economy, to processing then manufacturing, distilling and so forth, suddenly started to reap the benefits of it's own innate aesthetic landscapes - despite it being an island stuck in the middle of the mediterranean, Mallorca started attracting visitors for the first time for it's own sake.

In years past it had played unwitting host to a range of invaders who often landed with the tiresome agenda of 'conquer and occupy'. Until 1231 it was under the control of the Muslims, when it was liberated by James I of Aragon and then again, as late as 1936, it was reputedly almost taken by Republicans during the Spanish Civil war. In fact, until the 1960's, Mallorca had not enjoyed its splendid isolation, but had been abused as a strategic piece of real estate.

So how did Mallorca transform itself into a haven unfit for invasion other than by the new order of conquerors? The great and insurmountable army of sun seekers, who after landing successful assaults on the many beaches, saw that it was good, made camp, hired a sun-lounger and pillaged copious amounts of UV rays. This was surely all made possible through the on-set of new media, the television, plus maybe a waning interest in the wanton desire to expand our Empires and enslave other nations. Much better to enjoy a place when you're not at odds with the inhabitants.

It will also have something to do with two world wars? After all, it's not too difficult to imagine that the well traveled militias of the 1940's would have possessed far greater means and prosperity to re-visit (on more amicable terms), previously visited locations on continental Europe to take in the sights and sounds missed the first time around, and under a different set of more leisurely circumstances? War, without a doubt, did serve to widen the 'horizons' of post war Europeans.. and it did so, strangely, in a viral sense that we can more easily understand today. Why? Because WW II created it's own 'web' of networked cultures - almost enforcing 'discovery' on the masses, in a different sense to, but very much in the same way that the World Wide Web allows us to today.

Once the decade of growth, reparation and reconciliation of the 1950's had run it's course, and with the equilibrium restored, the renaissance of the 1960's was already an inevitability. The difference being that this re-invention was built on a platform of generic and 'inclusive' consideration. Although they had their detractors, the Beatles, as four 'working class' lads from humble and recognizable backgrounds, couldn't be ignored. They illustrated through their well documented journeying, with BEA(tles) bags slung casually over their shoulders, that the world was indeed more accessible. In this way, the Beatles, not subliminally, but overtly, became the expeditionary force, taking 'point' as the first real promoters of invasion for the purpose of entertainment or leisure - 'tourism'.

They also very cleverly referenced that anything (except maybe Love?) could be bought. ' Beatles for Sale' was a tongue in cheek reference to the increasingly 'laisser faire', accessible socio-economics of the 60's and hinted that the Beatles were as good as any 'stock' you might want in your portfolio. That only 6 days separated work starting on 'Beatles for Sale' and the release of the immensely successful No.1 album 'A hard Days Night", tells us a something about the wit and commercial consciousness of the Beatles. They had become a tour - weary 'commodity' and decided this ought to reflect in the title of their latest work. The album, as they imagined, was not one of their greatest but still sold in bucket-fulls.

So, that 'Mallorca Property For Sale' is even a throw away search term, keyed thousands of times across continents, I put it to you, is in part because of bygone champions and conquerors that made those 'searches' physically in order to find answers to their questions. No more do we we stake our claim for foreign lands with standards, flags bloodshed and treaties, or send in a pop band to introduce the notion that there are more of us just the same elsewhere and that we might come and visit.

No, it's all a bit more civilized these days and we prefer to lay claim with towels on sun-loungers and if we're lucky, a slice of real estate. As long as it's for sale, nowadays we can generally get what we want by just paying for it. We no more 'pay the price' as agree one. So, if you find the path from 'Beatles for Sale' to 'Mallorca property for sale' a bit of a long and winding road, don't worry, because here comes the sun. Indulge yourselves.
