What's the Big Deal about a Fat Burning Diet?
Why is a fat burning diet such a big deal?
Firstly what is a fat burning diet as opposed to a weight loss diet? Surely the idea is if you are overweight that you get rid of the excess kilos whatever it takes (not to mention as fast as you can).
In a word, No. That is 100% not the idea. Having a false assumption to start with is one of the few real reasons why the vast majority of dieters fail to achieve permanent weight loss.
If you are overweight, it is due to the fat deposits your body has so thoughtfully stored for you because the energy from the food you have been eating is surplus to current needs.
Put simply, when you take in more calories than your body requires for its daily activities, your body stores these calories as body fat. Some foods convert more readily to body fat than others, even if they are not really "fatty" foods.
The kilos you want to lose should not be lost indiscriminately on some fad diet that starves you of both calories and essential nutrients. If you embark on a weight loss diet that does not specifically target burning the fat, of course you will lose (some) fat. You will also lose muscle, lean tissue and water weight.
This is unsustainable and downright dangerous to your health. It is also totally unnecessary if your goal is to lose weight and keep it off.
In order to have a healthy lifestyle for the rest of your life, being toned and fit and full of energy, you need a fat burning diet. You also need to make a healthy lifestyle one of your very top priorities. You have to commit your mind to a permanent change in eating and exercise habits.
Then and only then will you lose weight and maintain permanent weight loss.
