What You Need To Know About Exotic Pomeranian Puppies

Could that strange colored puppy shaped like a Pomeranian be an exotic Pomeranian puppy? The most striking color is blue merle. There are a few colors like blue and parti-color that are both standard and exotic Pomeranian puppy colors. Exotic colors usually include beaver, lavender, chocolate and blue merle.
There are a few Pomeranian types always available for sale or in rescues, it seems. The domestic dog has incredibly flexible genes, and Pomeranian types are proof of this. The original Pomeranian is probably extinct. They were sturdy sled-pullers and sheepherders. Two centuries ago, they were about thirty pounds. When they went to England, the trend of breeding them smaller and smaller began. There are now toy Pomeranians, teacup Pomeranians and exotic Pomeranian puppies today on both sides of the Atlantic.

The only thing that makes exotic Pomeranian puppies different from standard Pomeranian puppies is their color. That's it. If you get an exotic Pomeranian puppy, be prepared for many know-it-alls to say, "That's not a real Pomeranian because the color is wrong." If you want to show your dogs, then exotic Pomeranian puppies are not for you, as they may be disqualified, even if you can prove that your exotic Pomeranian puppies are all purebred Pomeranians.
You can easily find exotic Pomeranian puppies for sale on the Internet. They are sugarcoated websites to disguise the fact that they are nothing more than inhumane puppy mills. In puppy mills, dogs are kept in small wire cages and killed when they become infertile. Any standard or exotic Pomeranian puppies from these places will be sickly, neurotic and most likely not even purebred. There is no way to prove that the registration papers of any dog have been faked or not. The advent of DNA testing might change that, but not for years yet.

It is amazing that the dog show world and the American Kennel Club, which claims to be the dog's champion, does virtually nothing about puppy mills or the Internet sites selling puppies. They are more concerned about keeping proper Pomeranian coat colors in or out of the show ring rather than the conditions in which standard and exotic Pomeranian puppies must live out their lives.

Other than the color, exotic Pomeranian puppies are just like standard Pomeranian puppies. They need training, proper nutrition, annual vet checks and shots. They need to be neutered if you want any chance of having a decent pet. If you are convinced an exotic Pomeranian puppy is for you, then you need to contact a breeder or Pomeranian rescue. You should have to wait awhile and fill out lots of forms.

Then ask yourself just what in the name of God you are doing. No good puppy is a bad color! Color is the least important aspect of choosing a Pomeranian puppy. These are specialized dogs that have very specific needs. They hate small kids and large dogs. They don't need exercise, but need intensive daily grooming. They often have bladder and bowel accidents. Don't be prejudiced – get any Pomeranian only because you've checked up on your Pomeranian information and know what you are getting into.
