What You Must and Must Not Do to your Affiliate Site

SEO tips to modify your affiliate website to receive more traffic.
An affiliate's site must receive enough traffic to keep the business running. The business would be a huge success if the conversion rate of the traffic is high. With millions of websites competing for traffic, it's not an easy task to attract a major portion of the traffic, leaving the competitors behind. In internet marketing it's no secret that traffic is driven mostly by the search engines. It's prudent for affiliates to optimize their websites for search engine so as to rank higher in the search engine result page. The higher the rank, the greater the attention. Greater the attention, greater is the traffic.

In a spirit to boost their SERP ranking affiliates often cross the thin line of ethics and earn a penalty or a ban from the search engines. And sometimes affiliates remain ignorant about the right way of doing SEO which can give them better results. It's important for affiliates to understand what they must and must not do to their website to get a higher rank and quality traffic.

Dos and don'ts

1. keyword research

While doing the keyword research it's advisable for affiliates to go for long tail keywords which well define their product or service. Short tail keywords are more competitive and have a greater traffic. But higher traffic may not necessarily lead to a higher rate of conversion as it implies a broad range of products. People who are in search of specific product would use a longer phrase in the search engine to reach the relevant websites.

2. Site structure

Affiliates should not club all the products and services in a single page. Separate page, url and content should be devoted to each product. If the content gets longer, affiliates should break it further more into two different web pages and connect them smartly.

3. Linking

Affiliates should try to get back links from relevant sites. Links with a good page rank would boost up the affiliate ranking. One link from an authority site in the related industry would be the best earned back link for an affiliate website. Affiliates should not succumb to link farming or approach websites for back link if they find the website suspicious.

4. Content

Affiliate's website should be content rich. Fresh content should be added to the website on a regular basis. Content should have a subtle blend of keywords for SEO leverage. Affiliates should not resort to automatic content generators as the content would slacken people's interest and drive them away. Stuffing the content with lots of keywords is also condemned so as avoid ban or penalty from the search engines.

The above points should be taken care by the affiliates while optimizing their website for the search engines to get good quality traffic and a higher rate of conversion.
