What to Write in Funeral Cards
When we lose someone we love, our bitterest tears are called forth by the memory of hours when we loved not enough. ~ Maurice Maeterlinck

Although we are aware of the fact that death is inevitable, coping up with the loss of a loved one is by far one of the most difficult experiences in life. When we attend a funeral we gather to pay our homage to the deceased and to comfort the bereaved. Ceremonies like a funeral are a very delicate affair, and care needs to be taken that you do not violate the funeral etiquette.

Funeral cards can refer to the sympathy cards sent for the bereaved as well as the thank you cards, which are sent by the bereaved after the memorial service. In case you are sending a sympathy card, you should know what to write in funeral cards. Make it a point to write your own words of condolence in your own handwriting while sending a sympathy card.

In case you do not know what to write in funeral cards, then it is always better to write some sympathy quotes or sympathy poems in the card, which can help you to convey your feelings. Make sure that you do not sound rude by making generalized statements in your message. You can relate fond memories of the deceased in a line or two. Keep the message polite and avoid dramatic sentences.

On the other hand, while writing thank you notes for the people who attended the memorial service, you need to remember the etiquette for funeral thank you notes and keep the messages simple and short.
