What to Look Out for When Buying a Second Hand Vauxhall Car

This article gives you tips on what to look out for when buying a second hand Vauxhall or any other make of vehicle. It will help you avoid buying a faulty car.
It is no secret that you can often get more for your money when you buy a second hand car rather than choosing to purchase a brand new vehicle. Devaluation means that the price of any manufacturer, model or motor will fall significantly as soon as it leaves the showroom.

However, this does not mean that you should settle for anything less than perfect when buying a second hand Vauxhall or any other make of car, because you will still be spending a lot of money on your new run-around.

Body Work
When you look at the exterior of your new car, it should not be covered in scratches or marks, you also do not want to see oddly coloured patches where bumps or grazes have been painted over with a paint that did not match the original. Features like this can spoil the aesthetics of your car and leave you feeling disappointed with the money you have spent. Also, if there are bumps in your car it is easy to conclude that the previous driver has not taken care of their vehicle, and this could also have an impact on how it drives.

Test Driving
When you do give any prospective new cars a test drive, you need to listen out for anything that does not sound right. If the clutch makes aggressive growling noises or the exhaust sounds rough, check these things out and you can avoid buying a motor that needs hundreds of pounds worth of repairs to make it driveable. You do not want to buy a car that would not pass its MOT.

History
Whenever you buy a second hand car, you should always have it checked to make sure that it has not been stolen, otherwise you could find yourself in trouble with the law for purchasing stolen goods. It may be a cliche but having fewer drivers who are older or female could mean that there si less wear and tear to the engine and other driving components of the car. The gentler the previous drivers, the better the car will be running when you buy it.

Used Vauxhall cars and other manufacturers should not be viewed as second best as well as second hand. You can get a lot of miles out of some of these cars and they could end up lasting you a lifetime. If you check that the body work, interior and engine sounds ok when you test drive, you will save yourself the trouble of buying a dud vehicle and the money of having to get it repaired.
