What They don't Know about Summer - Chapter 1

Summer's dad is an abusive drunk. First day of her new school.
She was a young girl, about 14 years of age. Lush blonde curls draped down her back. Her eyes were a striking sea blue color. Long eyelashes, pearly white teeth, and noticeable dimples in the middle of her cheeks. Just about every teenage boys dream girl. Her name was Summer. Her home life was unbearable, which was a secrete she had kept from everyone in her new school. Summer's dad, Randy was an alcoholic. He was physically and verbally abusive. Her mom died during child labor, so Summer knew barely anything about her.

"Hey new chick." Jack Elkslie said as he walked past her in the school hallway.
"Oh hi." She replied quietly. She swiftly scoots down the hallway, and makes her way through the crowd of seniors.

"Whoa, look at that fresh meat!" A senior boy snickers to his friend. "Hey baby, why don't you come over here and we can chat for a little while," the boy continues. Summer smiles, but keeps walking. He grabs her arm, and she tugs away. She manages to get free, and sprints down the hallway.

It's her second day at Lorenzo High School and she hasn't talked to anyone much. Summer bolts into a seat as she scurries into her Algebra 2 honors class, she has always been intelligent. This is the first time in her new math class, and she doesn't recognize anyone from her day yesterday. It is all juniors, Summer is the only freshman. A slim girl glares at her.

"Get the hell out of my damn seat freshman." She yells. The class giggles.
"Oh, I didn't know it was your desk. I didn't see your name on the damn seat." She replies. The class again, laughs. The junior girl rips the cap off her water bottle and just as she is about to pour it on Summer's head, the teacher walks in. Thank god.
"Class, we have a new student. This is Summer Lowell, she is a freshman. Everyone welcome her." Mr. Marks says.

"Hey cutie!" A boy in the back yells. He smiles.
"Mr. Andreas! We will have absolutely none of that in my classroom! Understand?" The teacher screams.
"Whatever." He mumbled.

The rest of her day was filled with the same stuff. Last period Summer has gym, and again she doesn't remember anyone there from the day before.
"Hey!" A girl calls out. She is tall and slender. Her hair is jet black, yet her eyes are a mystical blue. The girl's nose is small, and she has braces covering her teeth. Few blemishes scatter this girl's face.

"Hi." Summer smiles. The girl calls her over to the circle of people she is standing by. She hesitates but slowly makes her way to the black-haired girl.
"I'm new here," Summer explains. "My name is Summer, what's yours?"
"I'm Isabella, but you can call me Izzy. Or Bella!" Isabella replies. "Everyone, this is my friend Summer. She's new." A boy whispers something into Bella's ear.

"Yes, she is pretty!" Bella yells out loud. The boy blushes. His name is Colin Tullson. He is tall, blonde with green eyes. He is also the quarter back of the freshman football team.
"You think I'm pretty?" Summer asks Colin. He grins.
"Yeah. You have really pretty eyes." He smiles shyly.

"Thanks, so do you." Summer says. Another freshman boy stops the conversation. His name is Curtis Cory. Curtis was in a circle with 3 of his friends, Hunter Clement, Evan Moore, and Myles Arkins, when he caught a glimpse of Summer. He rushed over to talk to her.
"Hey, I'm Curtis. Who are you? Are you new?" He asks.
"Hi, I'm Summer, and yeah just moved here from Florida."
"Nice name. I guess that explains the southern accent." He laughs. "What street do you live on?"

"Tuckerson."
"No way! Me too. It's nice being walking distance to the school. I can walk you home later if you'd like!" He says charmingly.
"I'd like that!" She smiles. Curtis is also on the freshman football team. He has light brown hair, brown eyes, and a perfect smile. He pushes past Colin, and gives him an awful glare.
