What is liposelection? - Cost and Recovery Period of Liposelection

Many people have trouble losing those extra few pounds. Some will diet and some will choose surgery.
Many people hear on the television and radio as well as reading in the newspapers or magazines about the various pills whose sole purpose is to melt away your fat. Unfortunately in most cases, these pills will not work alone, but for many people, rather than reaching for the phone and ordering the pills, they simply pay a visit to their local plastic surgeon’s office to undergo an ultrasonic assisted lipoplasty, which has been most commonly referred to as liposelection.

Basically, the procedure itself involves the injection of a "wetting" solution which is basically a complex saline solution which also includes a little anesthetic as well as adrenaline. Then the surgeon will insert these tiny little probes which will be used to heat up and liquefy the fat cells that the probes come into contact with. After this is done, a special cannula tube that has an ultrasonic vibration to it is used to suck out the liquefied fat cells while at the same time helps to dislodge the stubborn fat cells which are stuck to various soft tissues like nerves, blood vessels and muscle mass.

Unlike a normal liposuction procedure, the use of this ultrasonic vibration means less damage and trauma to the underlying soft tissue in the area that the fat is being removed from. As a result, there is less agitation and therefore less pain and discomfort as well as a quicker recovery period.

By not affecting or even harming this surrounding soft tissue, the need for excessive amounts of adrenaline and anesthetic is not needed and thus limits the chances of a heart attack or other serious complication that is often associated with a standard liposuction procedure.

Furthermore, the prices associated with liposelection is also far less than that of liposuction due to the lowered cost of necessary anesthesia and adrenaline. In effect, one can expect to get that fat melted away from their abdomen, thighs, arms, hips or buttocks for just under $3000 depending on the area being treated and the amount of fat that will be needed to be removed. The recovery time is also far less with one being able to return to their normal daily activities within about 3 to 5 days with very few restrictions.
