What is an Oxygen Bar?

A bar where they do not serve drinks, instead all you get is clean air and lots of oxygen? A welcome change over smoke-filled, sweaty and claustrophobic bars, and one that is worth trying. Yes the oxygen bar is what we are talking about…
Oxygen, that thing you breathe, that essential gas that keeps the world going round is really more important than you give it credit for. Oxygen is what essentially and literally keeps you alive and keeps you going. Consider this: people can survive for a few days without food and water, but do you think a person can survive even a few minutes without oxygen? No, the brain would die and the heart would stop pumping immediately. This is how essential oxygen is to the human body. It is used to convert the carbohydrates, fats and proteins from the food we consume into heat and energy for the body and its normal functioning. Oxygen is essential for the production of living cells and for respiration of these cells as well. Oxygen is also used in removing toxic waste from the body. Quite simply put, the more the oxygen there is in the body, the more energetic the body will be.

Familiar with the term oxygen bars? Ever heard of one if not been to one? For those who have been to the states of Los Angeles or California, chances are you have heard of or been to one. So an oxygen bar is a place where you can breathe 99 percent pure oxygen. You can breathe is almost pure oxygen for up to twenty minutes without causing any harm to the body. All you need to do is walk into an oxygen bar, lie down on a couch or hop onto a bar stool and place a plastic tube into your nose which will allow you to inhale 90 to 99% pure oxygen.

How popular are oxygen bars you ask? Quite a valid question, Oxygen bars started gaining popularity in the early 90s. Back then the bar would supply 50 to 99% pure oxygen from filtered or bottled water in a tube. The concept was simple, inhale for a minute and deposit one dollar. The concept is still the same but a little more expensive. Expect to pay anything from $50 to $70 for twenty minutes at an oxygen bar.

The 21st century is ready to welcome the oxygen bar theory with a bang and like any other bar, this is now a place to socialize in a healthier manner. No more smoky corridors its nothing but pure oxygen…or almost pure oxygen here. People who have been going to these oxygen bars claim to have found relief from daily stress, migraines, headaches, hot flashed, hangover and even allergies…not to mention the energy levels that have increased. Corporate organizations are using the concept of oxygen bars to their advantage as they find that those who visit oxygen bars are more alert and productive at work. Kids and teenagers also frequent oxygen bars under adult supervision as it increases their performance at school. The need for oxygen bars is being realized in every field and aspect of life.

An oxygen bar set up is simple. It uses supplies and equipments that are needed for delivering oxygen to their customers. Some of their equipments are a concentrator system, an infusor and the modular bars.

The only problem where oxygen bars are concerned is those with respiratory problems cannot use them, as the amount of oxygen inhaled can be detrimental to those with asthma, bronchitis or emphysema. Also beware of oxygen bars that claim the use of aromatherapy, and the scents mixed in the oxygen can cause problems to the lungs and lead to pneumonia.

Though some may say that there are no physical benefits of using oxygen bars and the relief is only psychological, but then there are those who swear by the effects of oxygen bars. Whatever the conclusion maybe, the bottom line is oxygen can’t cause any damage, so why not give the popular oxygen bars a shot.
