Whales are one of the marine mammals. Like other mammals, a whale is not only warm-blooded but also breathes through lungs. Being a mammal, a whale lactates and feeds its young ones like any other mammals. The two species of whales are the humpback whale and the bottle-nosed whale.

A group or a pack of whales is known as school of whales, herd or pod of whales.

The other terms used for a group of whales are float, troop, shoal, run, mob, gam or grind. These terms are used according to species of the whale group. For instance, a group of bottle-nosed whales is called a grind.

Whale hunting or whaling is unethical as whales are one of the endangered species.
