What Ever Happened to the Good Old Toy Dump Truck?

Where have all the noble toys gone? I am so sick of seeing kids spend hours in front of a video game or computer. What happened to the good old toys?
Each year, children sit down with their Moms and Dads and craft their Christmas wish list. Boys and girls all across the globe dream about the toys that Santa or their parents or family members will hopefully purchase for them. They can't wait to see what is wrapped and waiting for them under the tree. Parents everywhere often find that they just can't find everything that their kids want, however. Numerous times, the hottest items go quicker than you can get to the store and if you have to wait until the last minute, you don't truly have much to prefer from. If you're one of the fortunate few, your son or daughter will ask for a toy dump truck and you'll have a wide assortment of them to select from.

Toy dump trucks are one of those nostalgic old toys that we have all had at one time or another. Perhaps when you were a kid, your best buddy had one and you begged for one until that shining moment finally came and there it was, beneath the tree or in a big box with a bow on it at your birthday celebration. Either way, you finally got it.

Yes, I was a strange child, or perhaps not so much. It seems like these days, all children want to do is play video games and stay inside. There are so few things that get them outside and playing that when we see something, anything that might capture their attention, we need to do it. Get those kids outdoors, even if it means that your little girls are playing with dump trucks instead of pom poms.

Everybody knows that a dump truck is not something that should shine and glisten. It should bear the marks of a toy well played with and when you're talking about dump trucks that means it should be covered in muck. I remember finally getting mine-it felt like it was an eternity from the time I asked for one until the time I actually got one of my own.

Consider how much fun you can have with your children, having a little bit of time unplugged. Then go out and acquire them something they can scratch up and that won't bite the dust.

There's one way to at least help them enjoy their youth a little more than they might if they sit in front of the Sega, XBOX, Nintendo or atari for too long and that is to purchase them something that gets them active, gets them outdoors and gets them thinking about something other than killing bad guys with shot guns and grenades.

Purchase your child something real, something tangible to play with. Even if it's not a Toy Dump Truck, get them something with wheels, bells or whistles that doesn't plug into a wall this year.

It doesn't have to be just one of these, think about all of the toys that you enjoyed as a child before we had the internet and video this and video that. They still make all of these toys-they just call them vintage now.
