Wheat: Wheat contains high gluten which is very beneficial to mice. Rolling the wheat will make it easier for the mice to feed on it.

Barley: Just like oats, barley also helps to regulate and modulate insulin and glucose in mice. One can feed barley in the rolled or pearled format.

Millet: Millet is very easy for digestion and will therefore not cause any untoward reactions, even in mice who are prone to allergies. One can also feed mice red millet as a change in diet.

Buckwheat (Whole) : This type of cereal is also very beneficial for maintaining the nutrient levels in mice.

Rye (Rolled): This is a great choice when it comes to feeding mice because it contains high amounts of fiber and vitamins. Plus it has less gluten.

Flax Seeds: Seeds need to be fed in twice the quantity as other substances. Flax seeds have omega 3 oils in them which is an essential fatty acid. Thus it helps in promoting the health of the mice. Alternately, one can also feed the mice pumpkin and sunflower seeds but these need to be given in regimented quantities to mice who are overweight or diabetic.

Frozen Foods: Give them frozen peas or broccoli in either the raw or cooked form.

Fruits and Vegetables: Give them fruits like apples and other vegetables. But always restrict it to 2-3 times a week because of its high sugar content which is bad for diabetes. It may even cause dehydration and diarrhea.
