What Causes Insomnia?

If you have spoken with a doctor or some type of therapist about your sleep problems or have read books and other literature on the subject, you may be quite convinced that what causes insomnia is beyond your control. You may have been led to falsely believe that there is nothing you can do to get a good night of rest but surrender to the power of prescription medications, specially blended teas, or a variety of other commercial products.

Yet, isn’t there some sort of intuitive knowledge within you that just knows this is not the truth? Have you not experienced at least a little nudge from somewhere inside your body that says the real causes of insomnia are completely within your control?

The truth is, most causes of insomnia cannot be cured by medication of any type. If you have difficulty falling asleep at night due to overwhelming stress and anxiety, a pill is not going to remove whatever is causing those emotions. If you wake up repeatedly in the night and are unable to fall back to sleep, a pill may knock you back out but it is not going to help you understand why you are waking up to begin with.

Most causes of insomnia are rooted deep within your body. There may be emotional issues that make you overly sensitive to stress. There is very likely to be an interruption in the natural rhythms that your body established upon birth. None of this can be solved by pills, either.

So, what are you left with? You now should understand that what causes insomnia is deep within your body. Similarly, you should understand that the solution is not in a sleeping pill that forces you to ignore these very real causes of sleep problems!
