What are the Duties of a Wedding Planner
If you thought being a wedding planner is just being as pretty and glamorous as Jennifer Lopez, then you need a reality check! Planning a wedding is no child’s play. Weddings are one of the most important days for the couple getting married as well as for their family and friends who come together to celebrate their union. Being a wedding planner means taking complete responsibility of the wedding preparations as well as ensuring that the wedding goes exactly like the bride and groom wanted it! Well if you are contemplating the thought of being a wedding planner, then here is a rough idea about the duties of a wedding planner.

Pre-Wedding Duties of a Wedding Planner

Well, this is the most important stage of the wedding preparations. First of all the wedding planner has to meet the couple and discuss about their wedding traditions and wedding etiquette. The wedding planner has to accompany the bride and groom and go hunting for the perfect wedding venue. Once the venue is finalized the wedding planner has to consult with the bride and groom about the wedding theme they want for the wedding and have a concrete vision of the wedding to be planned. The wedding planner then has to come up with wedding decoration, seating and color scheme ideas that seem to match the needs of the clients. These arrangements will include wedding flowers, wedding centerpieces as well as the wedding menu including the important wedding cake! The couple might also ask the wedding planner for some help with the wedding vows as well as the wedding speeches.

Finalizing the guest list, sending out the wedding invitations and keeping a track of the replies is also one of the duties of the wedding planner. Other arrangements that need to be made are the bride and groom’s clothing. The perfect wedding dress remains to be number one priority for most of the brides! And of course, there are the bridesmaid dresses (including the maid of honor), as well as the groomsmen dresses (including the best man) to be taken care of. Scheduling and supervising the wedding rehearsals is also one of the major pre-wedding duties of the wedding planner. Arranging for the wedding photographer, and the wedding music is also included in the duties of a wedding planner. The wedding planner also has to take care of arrangements for commuting the bride, groom and their family members to and from the venue.

Duties of a Wedding Planner During the Wedding

Once the wedding ceremony begins, the wedding planner becomes a supervisor who has to keep an eye on all the things going on in the wedding. Handling emergency situations like parking problems, lighting emergency or any other situations, which may cause trouble in the wedding. A wedding planner has to be prepared to handle all sorts of problems as quickly and efficiently as possible. The wedding planner has to ensure that all the other hired services like the wedding caterers, decorators, musicians and singers, and the photographers are doing their job efficiently! Ensuring that all the guests are enjoying themselves and more importantly ensuring that the bride and groom are happy with the way things are going is the most important duty of the wedding planner!

Post-Wedding Duties of a Wedding Planner

Even after the wedding, there are some responsibilities or duties of the wedding planner. The wedding planner is the one who needs to ensure that all the guests have been presented with the wedding favors. The wedding planner is supposed to the person who ensures that the wedding venue has been vacated by the allotted time. The wedding planner has to ensure that all the bills for all the hired services are cleared. Last but not the least, the wedding planner has to ensure that the bride-groom and their guests had a great time and would revert back for any future events and weddings to arrange!
