Now mindfulness meditation, also known as insight refers to a particular type of meditation technique. The main object is to focus on the present rather than staying in the illusionary past or future. To meditate mindfully is to be aware of the thoughts, actions which are happening right now. It will help you to live in the reality.

To actually know what mindfulness meditation is you have to practice it and rip the benefits from such practice. Below are some guidelines which will help you to understand it better.

Creation of a favorable environment is the first and foremost criteria. The place where you are going to practice mindfulness should be devoid of any kind of distractions. It should be calm and quite, without any sound or noise. Choose a place where you can forget all your pains and sorrows. It is preferred to have a sacred feeling. It is not necessary to be a religious place. It can be any place of your choice which has a feel good factor.

In the beginning meditate for short time periods say ten to fifteen minutes on a frequent basis. Initially do not force your mind for long period of meditations. This may have some negative impact on your personality which will contradict the ultimate purpose. Try to start practicing as a very easy going process.

While practicing, be careful to be aware initially. Later prevent and eliminate this mistake. Do not allow your mind to go wherever it likes. Try to control your mind and focus on the present. Inspire yourself by saying it aloud that you are learning to tame and train your mind.

Right posture of the body is essential for mindfulness meditation. According to the Buddhists, there is a strong connection between the body and the mind. So to control your mind you have to first control your physical posture. The ideal situation is to have an upright, erect posture, lateral balance of your hips and shoulders, stack up spine. Visualize and make your body feel comfortable.

Keep your gaze down and focus few inches before the nose. The eyes will remain open and still won't see the surrounding.

Let your breath be the focusing object for meditation. Use your natural breathing process as an object to concentrate on your mindfulness meditation. Likely, feel your breadth to come back in cases of distraction.

Mostly importantly remove your thoughts irrespective of its significance. In the initial stages of your practice it will be very difficult to concentrate. You will be confused among the ocean of thoughts. But gradually you will stay in the present making your breath as the steering.

This may just scratch the surface of just what mindfulness meditations are. Start practicing today. Feel the happiness and bliss in your life.
