We've Got The Whole World in Our Hands
"Beat him up. Told him if he ever did that again, I would punch his lights out. .... "What am I going to do with you?" He sighs."
This is that new story I was talking about. Hopefully you'll like it. And, I know I'm not the best author in the world, but if you're going to leave nasty comments, please just don't comment at all. Thanks.

We’ve Got The Whole World in Our Hands Ch. 1
"Why are you lying to me, Hope?" My best friend, Ben, was lying on my bed on his back reading a magazine while talking to me. I swear he’s obsessed with them.
I was on my laptop checking my email, I kept my eyes down. "I’m not lying about anything."
"Yes you are. I can tell, it’s in your eyes and voice." He states, and then he glares at me.
"He cheated on me." I muttered and swore, I surprised myself, I never swore.
"He did what?!"
"Cheated on me, but don’t worry, I set him straight."
"What did you do?" He asked cautiously.
"Beat him up. Told him if he ever did that again, I would punch his lights out." I cracked my knuckles.
"What am I going to do with you?" He sighs.
I smiled. "Grin and bear it. Grin and bear it."
"I guess I do have to do that." He smiled back and leaped off the bed. "Come on, let’s do something."
Unlike those other romance stories, no, his smile didn’t make me melt. The love I had for him was more brotherly, since I had known him since pre-school. He and I had been friends all because of one cookie that I had shared with him because he didn’t have a snack. Funny? I know, right?
"What should we do?" I was worried about what he was going to say next.
"Let’s go miniature golfing!" I know what you’re thinking, what a random thing to do, right? Well, ever since my first encounter with miniature golfing, I never wanted to go back. Ben has kept asking and asking me to go, but I really don’t want to.
"How about…NO. Let’s go ice skating instead!" I got really excited, ice skating was the one good thing in my life next to Ben.
"Fine. But one of these days you’re going to have to go back there."
I pouted and jutted out my bottom lip, giving him a puppy dog look. "Are you really going to make me do that?"
He came over and picked me up, spinning me around. "No, I could never make you do anything that you didn’t want to."
He looked me straight in the eye as he set me down. "Jeez Ben, why are you acting so serious?"
He shook his head and sighed. "You’ll never know the half of it."
"The half of what?" I was beginning to get confused.
"Nothing." He shook his head of whatever thought was creeping up on him. "Come on, we better get a move on it."
Hand in hand, we walked out of my house and towards the car. "Do you think Thera will let us in?"
"Of course, she’s like our second mom." He chuckled and slid into the driver’s seat. "Come on lazy butt, get in."
"Coming." I chimed. When I got in I said, "Let’s play a game, I’m bored."
"How about the silent game?" He grinned. "Ready, set, go."
He knew I sucked at this game, I was always the first to crack because I would just start laughing for no good reason, or I would flop over while I was on the couch and fall to the floor. This time, I covered my mouth with both hands, trying not to let a sound come out of my mouth.
After 15 minutes of holding it in, I had to let it out. "Jeez, why do we always play that game? You know I suck at it! Couldn’t we play one game which I know I’m good and can beat you at?"
He snickered. "Don’t worry, you beat me at about every other game."
I smile triumphantly. "Yes. Yes I do."
I loved card games, who doesn’t? We played speed, deuces, and a ton of other games too. And I always won. Since I was an only child, I never had anyone to play my games with. Until Ben came along, he came over to my house everyday after we met, then I was never without a friend.
"Hey, daydreamer, we’re here." I came back to reality and saw Ben giving me a goofy grin.
"Coming." Stepping out of the car, I wrapped my jacket around me, it was getting cold outside.
Walking inside, Thera was standing with the door open, greeting us. "Hey guys! I thought I would be seeing you soon."
"Yeah. This one here," He points to me. "Felt like ice skating, so, here we are."
"Haha, well, it’s good to see you again. Let me go get your skates, I’ll have Sam fix you guys some hot chocolate." Turning her back leading us inside to the snack shack, she yelled to a blonde hair dude. "Sam! Make a fresh batch of hot chocolate for Hope and Ben!"
"Okay!" He yelled back, starting a new batch. Once we sat down at the bar, he started questioning us. "So, how come you haven’t been here in a while?"
"Been busy, what with work and everything." I winked at Sam and laughed.
"So, you finally found a job?"
"Yes. I did." I smiled proudly and grinned. "And at a place that benefits me."
"Where? Wait, let me guess…the Promenade?" He raised an eyebrow and handed us both our hot chocolate.
"Yes!" I squealed, taking the mug from him. "Matt hooked me up big time and got me a job. I’m a doorwoman person, rip the tickets and point them to the right theater." I grinned again. "Should be pretty easy, I know that place like the back of my hand."
"Of course you do, Hope. You go there almost every other day!" Ben chuckled and sipped his hot chocolate.
"Well, at least I have a job now! Unlike someone here…not naming any names." I pointed to Ben and stuck my tongue out at him.
"Hey! I’m going to get one! Soon…" He muttered. I laughed at him. Even though we were both 17, he was 3 days older than me. We were in our last year of high school, thank god, and then off to college we go.
"You better get one fast! College is going to creep up on you like a panther pouncing on its dinner."
"Thanks for your input, Hope. It’s nice to know I have moral support from my best friend." He rolls his eyes at me and finishes up his hot chocolate.
I smiled cheekily. "Your welcome."
"Come on you two. Finish your hot chocolates, I have your skates here."
"I’m done!" He yells and grabs his skates from Thera.
I chug down the rest and slam it down on the counter. "Me too!"
~~~
"Ahh, this is so relaxing." Ben and I were skating around the rink, closing our eyes sometimes and just letting go.
"I know right?" Ben replies. "It’s a great way to just let go of your worries."
"Yeah." I opened my eyes and looked behind me. Ben saw the gleam in my eye and sped up. I went as fast as I could and we raced each other around the rink.
Suddenly Ben cried out, "Stop, Hope!" He skidded to a halt and watched in terror at what was about to happen.
CRASH. I slammed into someone and landed hard on my butt. Oww, I thought. Jeez, I didn’t see anyone when I was skating.
"Could you watch where you’re going next time?" The mysterious stranger says in a low voice. Wow, I think, he has the nerve to say that to me!?
I turn towards the stranger and spit out words of poison, "Well, you were in my way. Maybe next time you could look before you decide to make someone fall."
He scoffs. "Excuse me?"
"You are excused." I tried to get up but slipped and fell again. So much for being graceful.
"Wow, a girl with an attitude."
"What’s it to you?" He reaches out his hand and I glare at him, and then at his hand.
"What, you’re just going to stare at it? Do you want help getting up or not?" He smirked.
"Ugh." I grabbed his hand and he hoisted me up. "Thanks." I hissed.
"You’d think one would be grateful to someone who just helped them."
"Well you’re delusional if you think I’m happy that my butt is now wet because YOU made me fall and land on it."
"Well, sor-ry." He dragged out the word.
"No need to get sarcastic." I took a good look at him. He was a little bit taller than me, I was five foot five. Blue eyes and messy blonde hair, where have I seen this before?
"Checking me out?" He grinned.
"No way. Now, I need to go change because of what you did. I hope someone trips you later. Bye loser." I flounced off as best as I could, me being on skates and all.
"Bye." He skates off in the other direction.
I think about looking back, to see if he’s looking at me, but I decide not to. Ben finally notices that he has won, jeez he’s oblivious, and turns around, looking for me.
"Over here, Ben!" I wave my arms like crazy and skate over to him.
He looks at my backside and then back up to my eyes. "Uhh…" He stutters.
"Yeah, I know my butts wet. This strange loser guy bumped into me and I fell."
"Ahuh."
"It’s true. And I don’t care if you believe it or not."
"Okay, okay."
Walking out, I turn around one last time. He’s staring at me. Why is he staring at me? His blue eyes stood out, other than the fact that there were only a few people.
"Where are you going?" Ben’s voice broke through my thoughts.
"Leaving."
"But, we haven’t even been here that long."
"Well, I’ll come again tomorrow or something…I just remembered I have to finish something."
"Fine." He grumbled, suddenly wishing that they were still out on the ice.
